I prefer party members to have unique looks, anyway.

Broke my heart to deprive Morrigan of that awesome wilderness-witch look for three quarters of the game, it did.

Except for Isabella and Fenris, this is exactly what they have done, in the game as it ships. It's just that Hawke isn't the one that will be giving it to them.

Honestly does it matter? I hated having to mess with companions armor in DAO. I had Sten wearing red steel armor, silverite gloves, veridium boots, and the barbarian helmet. That was immersion breaking.

I prefer unique looks a lot more.

You are aware they could just as easily sell us DLC armor even if companions didn't have unique outfits right?

Sure they could.  But that's just a sign of what's going to kill the gaming industry again, just like in the 80's.

I prefer having all your party members having their own build. If my female rouge warden was standing next to leli and you hold your hand over the screen covering their heads you would not know who was who. Whenever I got better stuff I would give my old set to leli and then she would proceed looking just like my warden. Played ME2 after I had finished DAO twice or so and like how Jack and Miranda have completely different bodies. Just not having all the guys looking the same from neck down and likewise for girls. Know that my female warden mage was just a bit spooked by the fact that Wynne looked just as good in any outfit as my 20-something warden from the neck down. Really good genes I guess =)

They probably did it because there would be people like me who the first thing they will do is recruit Isabela and make her fight the rest of the game in her bra.

(Know the real reason is so everybody has a unique character model).

Oh and Bethany too.

I've come to terms with not dressing up my party members. As long as their special armor looks cool, I'm game. I mean I like all of their current outfits anyway, except Isabela's.

She just looks ****ty even though I think she's an awesome character representing some dark skinned ladies but I just wish I could make her wear pants~

You mean I might have the optional choice pay a little extra money every few months in exchange for unique companion outfits and/or weapons so BioWare can continue making awesome games?

That's plain nuts!

Good point buddy. This has also come to my mind. That's what happens when you operate under EA.

It doesn't matter, because I don't buy DLC's anyway. I consider anyone buying seperated armors, what could have been in published with the game as idiot. Because only reason to publish stuff seperated while same time publishing game, is try to milk more money from customers.

Same thing happens many item shops based games. The main game is design for lacking, then milk extra money from stuff what should have been in the main game in first place.

That's great!

Seriously, I hate spending my time, "Oh. Another Leather Helm. Yay. Oh. I got Dwarven Armor of Kick-Ass. Sweet! Inventory full. @#$% What do I throw out? Let's spend the next five minutes comparing my armor so I can throw out the worst one." After ten minutes go by, "Hey, a long sword. Inventory full of course. What was the second worst piece of equipment I had? ...... #*$@(*)&$)@&$()@$@_((!!!!!! I forgot. Now, I have to spend another five minutes figuring out what my worse piece of equipment! #P($(#&%($@$@$@(*)$()@&(@$_@)#*!(@!_()$#*!!!!!!!! THAT LONG SWORD IS WORSE THAN ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!"

I honestly would rather spend time playing the game rather than figuring out if this new piece of armor is good or not. I know some people love micro-managing. But I don't.

As for looks, what's the complaint as long as they look cool? I mean it's better than everyone looking the same. I'd rather my people look distinct than being able to change into armor that looks like armor that everyone else is wearing.

I hadn't even thought of this. now, I am excited.

I never had the problem of having too much armor/weapons. Anything that was useless to me, I kept in their chests, or on the darkspawn. Why would you even pick up armor or weapons you didn't need? And secondly, you can easily sell anything not needed at the party camp. Simple as that.

When it was already in the first game for free, yes, it's completely nuts.

Like many people said, they could have just had different armor throughout the game restricted to one character to keep that look. Maybe not as much as in DA:O but still at least 10-15 different sets per character would have been nice.

Then you must have had pretty crappy armor on everyone, the good armor looks completely different from one another. My warden was completely gold throughout origins so I could easily tell him from anyone else.

And here I thought I was cynical.

I rather like the idea of unique looks for each party member. It isn't as if we aren't able to upgrade them at all.

Well, I think the OP is correct. Not that I disagree with the idea. The folks at Bioware have bills to pay, just like everybody else. It's well within their rights to use DLC to sell people different outfits for their characters.

(Note: I do not like the idea, but I don't think it's anything aside from a smart business decision)

Let me just add that Morrigan looked best in Cailin's Armor, not those rags she joins with.

If they sell a million copies of Dragon age, they make 60 million dollars. Not even including the exiled prince DLC. That's more than enough to pay any bills they may have.

Can we upgrade their armor or upgrade THEM a la Mass Effect. I really hate how you just put points in a talent in that game and they say it's an adequate level up.

Where do you get the idea that Bioware sees even half that? I assume that EA will take a good chunk of it, as will the retailers where you bought the game.
