Sure it's a fact, but what he's getting at is "DA2 isn't as long or as high quality"
And then he plays the victim card. Brilliant

Hey genius, did you forget you have awakening and all the DLC installed?
Fail.
No, I didn't forget.
Fail.
But let's all freak out anyway.
I seem to recall DA:O without DLC being around 15GB. I can't check as I have Awakenings, Golems, Leilana's Song and Witch Hunt all installed. However, the recommended minimums published by Bioware are 20GB for Origins and 7GB for DA2. Doesn't quite match up, but we can draw similar conclusions from both,

He played no such card. You’re assigning actions and thoughts to blank faces. Labels are quite convenient at times.

Expert gamer speed, no one clocks their time if they're being casual about it.
The game clocks your time for you. It's gotta be more of a casual speed, because DA:O doesn't take that long (assuming "expert gamer speed" is what I think it is).
I played Origins multiple times, the first time I wandered around, explored everywhere, and went back to places multiple times just to see if anything new was happening. It took me about 60 hours. By the thrid time I already knew where stuff was, only went to places once, and didn't really do much standing around and talking with random people, it took me about 30 hours.
Honestly I'm not too concerned with game length as long as it's over 25 hours and has good replayability.

Changing from mp3 to ogg and dropping two audio tracks ist not going to make 10GBS of difference.
No, the fact that the new Encapulated Resource Format that Bioware is using contains the files in a compressed directory structure is what will make the size difference.

I don't think "Expert in Data Compression" is an actual profession
You don't need to be a computer genius to know how data compression work, friend.
If you haven't noticed, most people(some?) are pretty savvy with computers on these forums

Wait, so... there's pretty much more in game then there normally would for 7GB due to compressed files?

If you don't know much about how data compression works, don't start assuming no-one else does. Are you seriously suggesting that DA2 has applied some wonderful new compression algorithm that allows the unpacked disk install to be reduced by a 1/3rd compared to DA:O. We don't know how much difference compression algorithms will make, but we can make a reasonable assumption that it's nothing near that based on what we know of data compression in use today and how it works.

We are comparing like with like, not like with unlike. If someone says 50kg of lead is going to take up less space than 10kg of lead, it's not a valid rebuttal to say: "but 50kg of apples takes up a lot of space".

They're both video games
It is a valid comparrison
But, if you're not satisfied, fine. The Witcher was 7 gigabytes
And Eldar Scrolls 4 was 4 gigabytes
