High res texture pack for PC? Awesome.

People these days are really ready to take any sort of crap a company offers them and still pretend like nothing happened and smile even with their teeth being brown.
I love BW, and want them to be as successful as possible, but it seems to me they're becoming more and more sluggish and "let's just get this over with" attitude oriented.

Um, why are you assuming they were "forgotten."
I agree with the guy above this post. First, people beeotch and moan about low res textures in ME2 and DAO and whine about the fact that they are catering to consoles. Then, Bioware decides to throw a bone to the PC folks and offer the higher res textures as a free download and there are STILL PEOPLE COMPLAINING. Let's be rational, shall we?

Why weren't these textures included in the PC version from the very beginning?
This game fragmentation is really getting out of control.
Next thing you know we'll have 10 different servers for different game parts ready to be downloaded: one for textures, one for music, one for levels...., and on the disk you buy, you'll get a game launcher <_<.
This would be understandable if they didn't relase the demo, and knew nothing about players feedback on game aspects and looks.

Except those aspects of the game are neccessary to play it. A high texture pack is not, its something extra that not all PC gamers will be able to use anyway. Its a free download so quit yapping. This is an improvement over the last 2 Bioware games that didn't feature high res textures at all. Bioware obviously didn't have time to finish the high res pack for the gold version of the game since they had more important matters. They didn't intentionally leave it out.cotheer wrote...

Games have had content cut for years. And do know what happened years ago? Nothing, that content was just gone as far as consumers were concerned. I'm glad to live in time were devs can go back to content that they were not able to fit in the orignal release and find a way for the to give it to me.

Um...they're coming out on a free patch at midnight (tentatively) ON RELEASE DAY. In terms of results how is this any different from if the pack was shipped on the disc? You're still getting the high res textures. You're getting them at no extra cost. And you're getting them without any delay.
I mean, if bioware had said they wouldn't be releasing the patch for another month or were charging 5 bucks a pop for it, I could see why people would complain. But as it is now, I'm just wondering what the hell is the problem here?

Not particularly, though, you deserve kudos for the l337 kiddie impression. It was rather cute.
Bugs, glitches and oversights are present within all games...console AND PC. To me, it's more important how these are addressed, rather than to **** and whine about them whilst blaming company x for all the problems in the world (that, and taking a holier than thou attitude towards those people that don't pretend its an atrocity of genocidal magnitude).
As I said before; instead of throwing crap around about what is and isn't on the disk, let's just enjoy the fact the content is coming in some form, and for free. Seems rather petty to do otherwise.
I agree 100%.

Stupidest thing ever, this should be on the disk not a day one dlc
It's free, anyway.
Never a good sign when a developer "didn't have time" to put in something as standard (And large, going to be a big download) into the release disc. Kind of makes me wonder what else they "didn't have time for".

Well, no... Different opinions does not equal trolling, however dragging threads off-topic does.
I, for one, am very happy with the texture pack

The problem is not in the textures as such(at least not that much), but in the fact that you no longer can buy a disc with a full game on it. As said, it's all about fragmenting a game into smaller pieces and selling those later on (not talking about the textures).
And i don't want to get into the planning strategy, that's a whole new story.
The full games you could buy before just didn't come with all the extra content. It got if they couldn't put it out on time. So the alternative here was never high res textures for DA2 on disc. It was never getting them at all. If that is what you want, then feel free to say so.

I bet you anything that there most certainly is a full game on that disc.
You are simply setting up a straw man argument just to have something to complain about.

Agreed...what a ridiculous argument. Lack of rationality for some folks in this post. Comparing actual required control code in a game to optional, free graphical enhancements is a non argument. That comparison = FAIL.
Let's be serious folks. The argument that games are now "incomplete" doesn't make much sense in that content has ALWAYS been cut from games, much the same way that scenes have always been deleted from movies for the final cut. It's just that now we have the medium to get that extra content (DLC) much the same way that DVDs and Blu Ray have allowed film makers to show deleted scenes to their films that we would never see on VHS or on TV. It isn't that the games or movies weren't "complete."
Why is it so hard for some people to grasp this?

As far as DLC and such goes, it's a way for the company to charge more than $50-$60 for a game without charging more than $50-$60 for a game. I for one would just rather pay $100, $150 for the whole shebang and have it all on one disc/ in one download from the get-go. That's not going to happen though so I'd better stop playing games or just get use to DLC. I think I'll keep playing and embrace DLC.
