and this doesn't include playing those 6 different origins multiple times to experience more happenings, like having different party members in your group or making different choices in the world. Quite frankly, Dragon age origins release date will be the greatest day of my life.
Jesus, when you think about it, it is quite overwhelming, which is a good thing. I don't think I have ever played a game with this much replayability. You can easily put over thousands of hours of gameplay with this masterpiece called Dragon Age Origins. Final fantasy ten is the only game I put over 300 hours on, and that is partly becaused I left my playstation 2 on all night a couple of times.
I hope I don't get RROD because I'm going to push my xbox 360 to its limit.
It takes 80 hours per playthrough. There is 6 origins. 80x6 = 480 hours roughly

I think saying there are 480 hours of gameplay is a bit disingenuous. While I do not doubt there is a lot of replay and a lot of content, a straight multiplication is very simplistic as it assumes that each run is unique, when this is impossible.
Most of the content will be the same or very close to the same each time, so there will be diminishing returns. Quests will largely be the same, though dialogue options and some other things may depend on who is in your party, your origin, your sex, and some decisions you make. I would expect that after you go through the game with each class, race, and sex you will have seen the vast majority of the content.
It will probably be like playing Mass Effect as a paragon or renegade - both runs are different, but only by a few degrees. You do not get an original experience each time. Dragon Age: Origins will hopefully be more varied, and I do not doubt it will be, but it is not a new game six times.

All right, if you insist on making a thread like this -
480 hours is 20 days straight.
If you played 8 hours a day (super hardcore free time gaming) you would finish the game in 60 days.
4 hours a day means you finish in 120 days.
2 hours is 240 days. This is all assuming you play every day for the same amount of time.
480 hours = 28,800 minutes = 1,728,000 seconds and based on the average lifespan of a person in the western world (85 years), completing this game fully at one hour a day (480 days total) would mean you have spent 1.54% of your life waiting to finish* Dragon Age: Origins completely without any mods.
Of course, all of this pales in comparison to the hardcore MMO player
But DA:O Does fairly well for a single player game.

Dude, are you on weed or something? That's some excellent math, but the conclusion is wrong. One hour a day doesn't equate to a full day spent playing Dragon Age. What the hell were you thinking?IIsatar wrote...

No, but it does mean that you can only play one hour a day = 1 day passed.
It was worded a little weird I'll admit.

Bear in mind that 80 hours is a very high estimate. A Bioware dev stated that an average playthrough might take 40 hours, and that a speed run could be done in 12 hours. 80 hours might be achievable by listening to every line of dialogue, completing every quest, scrubbing each area of monsters, etc. Chances are most people won't get 80 hours each time for 6 playthroughs. You're bound to skip a few lines of dialogue that you've heard before, avoid some encounters or forget to do a quest, and become a more efficient player, saving you some time by making battles quicker.

I actually think that it's quite adequate for an experienced full runthrough - a first, full runthrough may take up to 100 hours and that consecutive runs will obviously lessen to about ~60 hours eventually (fully completed).

Yes, I'd have to say that it's pretty unlikely that the 6th run through the game will take as much time as the first. I've blown through BG in close to a fifth of what it took me the first time through, and still actually walking through more content than the first time..

I'll be playing each Origin and maybe more to try out all the class specializations. I'm hoping for maximum replay value...so there won't be any downtime for waiting on DA 2!

Pretty much
I'm sure we can expect a full 3-4 years wait between now and then, though. Plenty of time!

Ok, if we assume that each playthrough as a different gender results in a more unique experience, we get:
6x2=12 different ways of playing the game, 980 hours of gameplay, 40 days straight. Basically double all the values I gave up there.

How about all the character customizing.I am probably gonna replay this game a lot more just for that.Reaver/champion or champion/berserker Templar/reaver 2h/weapon&shield/Archery different stat distributions and more. Different companions and choices. At least gameplay wise you can do it quite a few ways. And many different ways for a mage.

If the replay value of this game will be as good as everyone is talking about then i deff think that any amount of time that any person thinks they may play this game is not long enough

Well I haven't even hazarded a guess at how many hours of play the mods will give, both DLC and user made. Combined over the years they could easily double any amount of time played - sure as hell did for BG2 and NWN.

DLC for this game I think can make it a lot longer specially if they keep it going...I put lots of time into Oblivion and never even got to most of the DLC

I hope there is some preview to the user made content. So i do not download something that is crap.I think also with the DLC they will extend this game far longer then any game.*including oblivion*

and also keep in mind that Desslock from PC Gamer spent 121 hours on his playthrough for the review. So the game could last anywhere between 40 to 120 hours, depending on how much you do
