Well macking a try at getting this finished before I get II and have had a good run of it so far. I've gathered all my allies and starting work on Denerim... I've had no issues besides some dropouts and missing DLC items (likely caused by the dropouts) but ath I've been able to fix.
The problem is that after walking around Denerim for a while textures start going haywire. Starts with armor flickering between textures and then moves on to indoor texture issues... what's worse is this then effects save files, I have to go back to my last stable save before the glitching started or the game simply crashes when I try to load.

There are a few areas of the game, including the Denerim marketplace, that are particularly demanding graphics-wise. So the first suggestion is to try it at lower graphics settings (especially lower AA and possibly turning off v-sync) and seeing if it improves. Having mods in the game can exacerbate the problem.
If the settings are not themselves overwhelming your CPU and GPU (both are a factor thanks to DAO's clunky coding), then it could also be that your system is working so hard that it is overheating and throttling back processing power to protect itself. There are some free monitoring applications you can use to check this theory... they're linked to the Solutions Round-up in my sig.

I doubt power is an issue, got a quad core phenom and a HD5770... have been using a high resolution pack so may be exacerbating the issue... I'm just stuck ATM since I can't save in the marketplace without the damned thing crashing when I try to reload.

Either way, dropping your settings can at least test the issue. Then you can decide if you need to uninstall mods or play that bit of the game at lower and/or detail.
If the ATI Catalyst software is set to enchance the in-game settings, you could try adjusting or turning off those.

I've been having a similar problem since my second playthrough of Origins - glitchy textures and CTDs, mostly in Denerim. I have a quad core processor and 2xGTX 295 running in SLI. I'm running Win7 64 bit.
Anyway, I did a bit of research and found out that my problem may have been that x86 executable files (.exe) on 64 bit platforms only use 2GB of virtual memory, which means that basically there can be the sorts of problems that we've been having during especially graphic-intensive times (eg Denerim at high-res). There is an unofficial 'patch' available that allows you to change this limit to 4GB. I downloaded this - with some concern, since I don't tend to download from unofficial sources, but I was royally ticked off with all the crashes etc - and I've just spent half an hour wandering about Denerim without a single crash or texture problem. Normally crashes within a couple of minutes.
I'm hesitant to post the link here, as obviously downloading anything from unofficial sources can be dodgy, and I don't want to be responsible for messing up anyone's system (ie do this at your own risk). But if anyone is experiencing the same problem as me, and is running a 64 bit OS (doesn't apply to 32 bit), then PM me and I will send you the link to the download page which also has instructions on how to apply the patch. Or you can just do a search for 'NTCore homepage' and follow the link for the 4GB application patcher. Once again, only if you are having texture glitches, and only if running a 64 bit OS.
Sorry for wall o'text.
