I think that DannJ has a good idea as well. I think that we can take a fair amount of artistic license as long as the model looks good.

Maybe you should join the team then and show us what to do then bert.

I've already issued my signing statement on the matter.  Stretch the pig and coat him in aligator skin.  Do I have to do everything around here as if Prezidentin wasn't enough?

Here is my suggested solution, and it doesn't involve any customised models - just a bit of 2DA jiggery-pokery.

I made a copy of the Pit Fiend line in Appearance.2DA ('Devil, Pit Fiend') and changed the head reference from c_fiend_head to c_balor_head.

You can then scale it up as far as you want (I used 5,5,5 in those screen shots).

2da jiggerty-pokery is the answer - it opens a whole new door to customisation for variety in uniqueness. I plan on jiggerty-ing and pokery-ing something for my solo project "Ancient Memories"

Thanks DannJ

That actually looks pretty good. He could be retinted a bit perhaps and maybe even retextured, and I would scale him down slightly. As EE said if you stretch things too much they look rubbish, but I imagine him as being a bit shorter and fatter and less humanoid, and you could easily take 10% or so off his height. He has no shell or anything but maybe we could graft a bit of tortoise texture onto his back or something? ;-)

Even at this point, making some very easy model adjsutments would do wonders.  Thicken the back, thicken the back legs, tilt the horns on the head up and add spikes to the back.  Easy and fast edits that woudl bring it even closer.

Question on journal entries: Are you making them campaign journal entries or module journal entries?

But, does it do it with feeling?  Does it eat the crib too?  It looks too intelligent for that, too humanoid.  And, it has a mohawk.  Is it going to a punk rock club in the evening for some dancing or is he going to do the right thing and eat the whole neighborhood, rubble and all?

Journal will be campaign. On the Turmish board there is a link to a spread sheet for journal entries. Name, tag, entry # and whatnot. So everything can be scripted and added to the modules and someone will need to copy the spreadsheet into the campaign journal before compilation and testing.

Just as an aside... can we stop quoting pictures please? I've seen them three times now, and I keep thinking my laptop is being invaded by the hordes of the abyss... everywhere I look there are terrifying hybrid demon monsters.

Seems cludgy, can the jrl files not be merged. Or at the very least can they be copy pasted?

All of our journal entries are in crayon.  Can we just scan them and email them or post a jpg or something?

Yes they can, there's a utility for it. I'm not sure whether it'd actually be easier though - I suppose you wouldn't need to have one person typing everything up.

Whoever has to type that up will probably need some sort of mental health counseling afterward.

On the bright side when they mentally revert into the mind of a six year old I have some crayons I can lend them.

For some historical perspective, here is a clip from the second Dark Sun game. As far as I know, the only cRPG to feature the tarrasque.

Looking at this again, I think the wingless balor, modified, could indeed work well.

Makes this community project all the more worthwhile.

Harumph!

The miserystone werewolf's legs are more suitable to the tarrasque. The balor is too upright and has humanized legs.

Kobold and lizard man also have the right legs.

First of all if we are doing a demon model we just got WAY farther away than if we would have just used that short wide fat blue demon. This thing looks like a drag queen on halloween.

As for the shell, that can be done MUCH easier. You dont add a shell texture that won't do squat. You make a piece of armor that affixes to the cloak slot, and put it on his back. I could even do that, 1/4 ****ed job of it, but I could if I had the software. Surely there is a modeller who can do it, I got some people to ask in mind right now.

But I wouldn't waste their time on that not-even-close gigantic demon. Just because something has two features in common, which from what I can see is a tail and horns doesn't make them a substitute. That short fat blue demon was way closer, and I'd say the boar was as well.

They heard you retired and booted your account  ;)

As for the journal I assumed the entries could be a cut and paste job, an import tool would be even better through. The crayons could be a bit of an issue but I'm sure we'll figure it out.

From my understanding module journals entries will not work in a campaign so one central journal will need to be created.

That is way more work than it needs to be.

Solution: don't use the journal. It's not like our little mini modules require detailed addendums to the general goal. Surely the player can remember one npc coming up and saying " holy s**t pickles batman, a giant wyven is eating all the children! We must kill it and find the key to the treasure chest in it's innards!" And if they cant... well the hell with them.

To hell with them all!
