That's a great little bit of knowledge that will come in handy.

Yes, and the areas I've seen look fantastic.

Work has slowed on my end of the project but people are working on it. Real life concerns have just made it more complicated; doesn't it always!

I will get a joint blog ready for the team so we can all post updates to it for the community to see. Expect this by the end of the week.

Here's the blog I've set up: http://cpttnwn2.blogspot.com/

This is where our updates will first be shown, however small they might be. It took a while to set up, but who knew life could get so busy so quickly!

Some of the design elements will be changed, but it's good enough to show off I think. Post, follow and do as you see fit!

Yeah, I got a bit sidetracked onto my main project and I've just been away for a couple of days, so my meagre contribution has been languishing a bit. I hope to get a lot more of it done soon, though.

I'd be willing to make a less meager contribution seeing as how the forums seem down to about 2 active people. But I would definitely want to see people confirm that they are out before expanding my realm space.

Btw the hak for this community project must be pretty epic size by now. How close do you think it is to be able to be used as a universal hak for people to use in any mod they release with 1 central download on the vault?

Looking at what's been covered (I'll put an image up on the citadel site), it looks like we need something at lowish levels (4-6) and something at higher levels (12-15).

As for the hak, is it actually a good idea to have a super-hak, when a lot of the stuff will already exist in things like Pain's Monster Pack which people may already have?

I think they'll use the ADL system for the hak. For the module I was making for the community it's on hold, buiseness is back at full steam for BGR :)

I'll still continue on it for a community project, but it might be ready only for the next.....

@ EE,

On the one hand, yes, there's the impression that many people aren't working on the project. The thing is, it's just people are working on other things. You can contribute as much, or as little, as you see fit. *Nobody* has contacted me and said they were out; take that for what you will.

The Hak is monumental in size. I can provide a link if you so desire.

@ The Fred

There was discussion of whether we should use a giant hak or smaller haks(like how Pain has done). The consensus, as I understood it, was to make a master hak. That's what I've done and provided.

@ Shallina

Take your time. The BGR project *needs* to see the light of day. :)
The community project, no matter the delays, will be done. Shagret is a nightmare of my own creation, and not even God knows when that will be done(if ever). The community project *will* be finished, as I don't make promises like this I cannot keep.

I like the idea of a master hak, what is in it? (or where is it?)

I don't know, I don't remember, but that was the impression I got, too. I just wasn't sure about things like monsters, though, since Pain has already organised most of the content out there into haks which people might already have. It struck me as a bit like slightly modifying the NWN1 CEP and then having everyone re-download the whole lot of it.

I'm still in, I have October in mind for a deadline ...

I'm side tracked right now as is my co author but it's started and it will be finished.

That's a legitimate concern, and I was very fearful of that. I don't particularly have a good answer for it other than saying that we're using more than just pain's pack. If there was a centralized placeable hak at the time then, yes, I probably would have rather gone the multiple community open hak route rather than what we've gone. Trust me--as a long, *long* time NWN1+NWN2 player, haks are a nightmare I hate dealing with. In this case, however, it seemed a (relatively) simple response and it was what people wanted. Those two things together were enough to convince me.

@ PJ

That's good, actually. Grad school alone has set me back a bit, but coupled with (fabulous) romance, I have been very behind. My priorities are straight, I think, but it does push things back again.

Thanks everyone, and let me know if there's anything in particular the community is looking for. Shagret is for me, but the community project is for us all. :)

See this is why I question the lack of activity. PJ did you know that your eta of October is months later than the announced date of this project going on the vault?

Or has that changed now (If I recall it was an end of summer delivery time).

oh btw I was just speculating on the hak as  being close to a "community patch" in size/coverage. All the things I heard ppl wanted in the big hak for this project likely went in. Even though its not ALL inclusive its probably close enough that I would rather start with this work already done and finish any missing content than build one from scratch. Or even just use this one as it might have enough to justify that status (Im guessing missing content might be very little used or of low quality in many cases, that I wouldnt use anyway).

As far as when people get me things--I'm being quite loose. Like, Shallina for instance, is working on the BGR project and, obviously, that takes first priority. That is what ought to be worked on first, and I am *more* than willing to wait on people. Like I said, this is a project for the community so I'm very willing to let things slide as is required.

Yes, the hak might as well be a CEP(not saying it is, mind you). I'll PM you a link EE.

Sorry I haven't been very active lately myself. New job + moving has been keeping my schedule pretty busy. I've been hammering away at the dialog for the openings though (my design doc is up to 36 pages), and I've got most of the areas done. I post a more formal update once I've gotten setteled into my new apartment.

No, I know we have a lot more stuff in this one, I just figured we'd leave out, say, Pain's stuff, and add it in separately. I know full well what a nightmare haks can be, though, especially after having dealt with the CEP in NWN1. Image IPB

As for release dates, I got the impression this was quite a laid-back project. I for one should probably pick up the pace a bit (mine is pretty small, and could be finished in no time if I focused on it) but I mean, October is kind of the end of summer, really. If it looks like some people are going to end up taking longer than anticipated, those who have finished could always lend a hand with odds and ends to speed things up, anyway.

Yep, I'm plugging away at this. Got the areas built, just need to finish conversations and encounters.

I also need to check out the new blog.

Harumph!

I've been pushing for a single "Community Expansion Pack" for a long time. NWN2 will not get another patch, and CC is pretty standard. Setting up a single "patch" of content would be my preference at this point.

I have even experimented with adding .zip files of content to my data folder and it all works fine. There is some content on the vault that I never build without, so why shouldn't it just be part of the game resources. In my mind, anything RWS IS official game resources.

This might not be the right forum, but I'd like to second what the grumpy strumpet says about a NWN2 CEP. I try to keep custom content down to minimum in my mods because I want to keep everything simple for the end user, and to cut down on bugs from complex installations (2DA conflicts and whatnot).

If there were a single download that I could reasonable expect every player to have, then I could incorporate it into my modules without a second thought. The ADL might resolve most of these issues, but it still leaves me having to make a choice about every piece of custom content; "Is this worth the potential hassle?" So I end up not using custom content unless it's absolutely necessary. For example, I absolutely had to use Escrimator's handaxes, for the tomahawk, but I left out his club and scimitar pack because they were only marginally useful. I'd rather have all the weapons available in a single hak, one that everyone downloads as a normal part of their installation.
