Who else is in the "I can't pick my class for the first playthrough" club?

My way out though, is this; a friend of mine can't afford it, and as he's giving a lift to get it, he gets to pick the first class. I can then do the other option on my own. And then do the mage.

Then it struck me, if *I* pick up the dreaded sword and board... then I have one more slot for all those lovely dps classes of companion. I am sure Avaline would be interesting, but... I gotta leave SOMEONE out....

I believe I'll play three games simultaneously...
I was on the fence about doing this.
I may end up rolling Rogue and Mage at the same time.

I'm more unsure about which gender to go for. I want to romance Merrill, so I'll probably go for a male Hawke, but that's a moot point if she is indeed bi.

LOL? Those daggers and all that jumping around gimmick isn't even going to scratch a well-built Warrior, who by the way is immune to flanking, critical hits, knockbacks, interrupts, etc. Warrior>Rogue>Mage>Warrior. It's always been like that in RPGs.XX-Pyro wrote...
Warriors suck because a mage and a rogue could beat them 1v1, and mages can shoot cool stuff out of nowhere making them automatically better than rogues!

but really my only restriction is that i get to use my special sword that gamestop's giving me
so its either warrior or rouge

I'm still on the fence whether I should go 2H or WnS. I want my first playthrough to be on Nightmare, but with that I'm reading it's a nightmare to play 2H on Nightmare. But I'm definitely rolling Warrior, no doubt about that.
The aoe from 2-h warrior's long reach seriously messes you up. Though if you're looking for an extra challenge....heh.

@ Seb: Good point, but I like 2H and magic almost equally... I found the exaggerated portion for Mage to be most appealing due to the power levels exhibited, but then... Berserker and Reaver just sound so cool... argh... I can't choose. >.>

Rogue (archer) second.
Warrior (two-handed) third.

My suggestion: If you're well and truly on the fence, play the exaggerated prologue with each class to try them all out at late-game strength and see which one you like the hands-on feel of best.
I did that and it only made things worse! I ruled out mage before getting the demo based on my habit of pretty much never playing casters but then I had a lot of fun with mage in the demo.
My inclination is always to play a high dps melee class (preferably with dual wielding), but the demo made archers and mages more appealing to me and now I'm just torn.

Before the demo, I was going mage 100%. That changed after playing the demo and "the exaggerated prologue with each class".Seb Hanlon wrote...

Well, my sneaky snipy assassin type has always provided most fun playtroughs in every game i've played her with (most lately New Vegas), might as well see how well she works in DA2 first. So an archer rogue it is!
