so definitively not a mage since that removes one potential party companion
Which one?
Bethany (Demo SPOILER: she dies if you do)

I'm considering trying to finish it with only archers. See how that goes. And on nightmare difficulty, because no friendly fire is stupid. And so was the guy that made the decision not to have friendly fire as a separate option. He should be fired, IMHO.
Whichever class you pick, one potential party member dies. Picking a mage removes Bethany, picking warrior or rogue removes your brother. It's just a way of guaranteeing there'll be a mage in your party from the start, one way or another, but without forcing an additional mage upon you if you choose to be one yourself.randName wrote...

I'd have preferred Bioware to just design one sibling and simply change their class depending on your choice; I don't like the strange way of deciding a character's death based on class choice - I'd rather it be scripted or anything else rather than something as robotic and flat as what class you chose. That said, I appreciate that the death of a character is going to be a dramatic point various scenes can draw upon and how it essentially adds to replay value.

Im going woth a SS Warrior first only because of the sword and shield i got for preordering, they are cool because they level up with Hawke, and the secon playthrough will be a rouge because i love dualwielding and rouges are like Ezio Auditore who pwns. I wont do mage because my wife is a mage only player and i will just watch her play as one,

Ah, right. Well, I guess that doesn't really matter too much since if you make a female mage, do you really want two mages in the same party anyway? I feel that Bethany would just end up on the substitute bench the whole time anyway, even if she did stay alive.

I can't pick. 2H Warriors are AoE kings, but I'm not much of a Warrior guy. Mages have the best overall DPS (good single target and AoE) and have various builds, but are frail. Archer Rogues may be my favs judging by the demo, with probably the best sigle target DPS, but you got Sebastian and Varric already.
So who else is in the "I can't pick my class for the first playthrough" club?

When did that happen?
Thats what got most of us in the situation to begin with.Seb Hanlon wrote...
My suggestion: If you're well and truly on the fence, play the exaggerated prologue with each class to try them all out at late-game strength and see which one you like the hands-on feel of best.
