But I'm torn because I think mages will be much more suitable for the story from what I've read. I don't want to end up playing that guy who's just sticking his nose into other people's business without really having anything big to gain or lose in the matter. An apostate mage seems to have much more to lose or gain.
A bit like my elf in dragon age origins, I wanted to see a dialogue option after Ostagar when asked to save the kingdom from the blight saying, "**** your human kingdom, I hope you all die." It never made sense to me for him to put his life on the line all of sudden after being forced to join the wardens or die. I ended up remaking him as a human noble and it was much more enjoyable.

Warrior seems a too lttle simple so rogue it propably is..
In DA 2 rogues seem very specialized in crowd control so wich path is the best?
Rogue archer felt fun in the demo with cool melee animations. For crowd control and crowd damage the archer is fantastic - standing at a distance doing good aoe and incapacitating enemies.
For me however that means that I will have no more rogues in my party, extra archer is redundant and why have a npc melee rogue when you can have second warrior?
But... Standing from a distance not really getting into the action might get a little boring after 30so hours. Maybe 2. pt..
So DW rogue, extremly fun and fast paced combat, not standing still in a war of attrition like a warrior, instead cool execution-moves and integrated crowd control ftw.
So a party of DW rogue (WarHawke!), a mage medic, 2h warrior and an aoe rogue archer (varric/sebastian) is my final decision - today anyway ;-)

I can't choose between Shield & Sword Warrior and Dual-Wielding Rogue. I couldn't do it before the demo, I can't do it even more after the demo :-D
I think I'll roll some dice or so to choose the class.

I find other classes more fun to play, but that's how I'm doing it. The way I see it, it'll give me even more reason to play it over and over and get my money's worth out of the game. =D

I think it has improved the most since DAO.

I can't pick. 2H Warriors are AoE kings, but I'm not much of a Warrior guy. Mages have the best overall DPS (good single target and AoE) and have various builds, but are frail. Archer Rogues may be my favs judging by the demo, with probably the best sigle target DPS, but you got Sebastian and Varric already.
So who else is in the "I can't pick my class for the first playthrough" club?
When did that happen?
I'm not sure I'd call them "kings" per ser, but they can really hold their own against a large group.
Au thx

Whats wrong with that? It's a decent looking Mage robe to me.Waengard wrote...

DRESS for MALE mage!
It's definitely a step up. The ones that were available in Origins looked like Bioware picked them up at the "Robes for peasants" outlet.

Would have considered male mage if Bethany stuck around
Rogue was a distant third on the list but just tried it on the demo with Lady Hawke and it was great fun!
So different with speed the emphasis over force
Now I don't know what to think anymore

Men shouldn't wear dress-looking robes
I don't want it for my character either, so again - mage or warrior? Damn..

Agreed! I can't get over the dress/robe wearing. Just too much of a stretch for me, but at least they get a cool looking staff instead of some goofy Harry Potter-esque wand.
2H warrior for me. It just doesn't feel right blasting enemies from afar. I like to be in the thick of things and I especially like taking the magic users down. As such, I'm really liking the templar tree.
