I'm going to be a primal mage on nightmare. No idea what my specialization will be. Probably force mage and maybe blood mage.

I'm trying to choose between mage and rogue but I'll most likely play as a rogue my first run. I'm not touching warrior though I hate playing as a warrior

I'm torn between mage and rogue. I've always loved rogues and I play the equivalent archetype in most games. I also love the acrobatic feel they've created for them in dragon age 2.

But I'm torn because I think mages will be much more suitable for the story from what I've read. I don't want to end up playing that guy who's just sticking his nose into other people's business without really having anything big to gain or lose in the matter. An apostate mage seems to have much more to lose or gain.

A bit like my elf in dragon age origins, I wanted to see a dialogue option after Ostagar when asked to save the kingdom from the blight saying, "**** your human kingdom, I hope you all die." It never made sense to me for him to put his life on the line all of sudden after being forced to join the wardens or die. I ended up remaking him as a human noble and it was much more enjoyable.

I'm already settled. Going to play a 2handed Warrior first, then a Mage and then a Rouge.

I get bored with mages - they can't keep themselves alive (npc's), wears dresses! And always feels incredibly overpowered with their offensive spells - won't go that way...

Warrior seems a too lttle simple so rogue it propably is..

In DA 2 rogues seem very specialized in crowd control so wich path is the best?

Rogue archer felt fun in the demo with cool melee animations. For crowd control and crowd damage the archer is fantastic - standing at a distance doing good aoe and incapacitating enemies.
For me however that means that I will have no more rogues in my party, extra archer is redundant and why have a npc melee rogue when you can have second warrior?
But... Standing from a distance not really getting into the action might get a little boring after 30so hours. Maybe 2. pt..

So DW rogue, extremly fun and fast paced combat, not standing still in a war of attrition like a warrior, instead cool execution-moves and integrated crowd control ftw.
So a party of DW rogue (WarHawke!), a mage medic, 2h warrior and an aoe rogue archer (varric/sebastian) is my final decision - today anyway ;-)

Wait so if you pick a certain class you can't get certain party members?

I'm in this club too :-)

I can't choose between Shield & Sword Warrior and Dual-Wielding Rogue. I couldn't do it before the demo, I can't do it even more after the demo :-D

I think I'll roll some dice or so to choose the class.

I started DA:O with a sword and shield warrior and I'm starting DA:2 with a sword and shield warrior.

I find other classes more fun to play, but that's how I'm doing it. The way I see it, it'll give me even more reason to play it over and over and get my money's worth out of the game. =D

Leaning towards rogue archer.

I think it has improved the most since DAO.

Glad I'm not the only one wondering what I'm going to do. At first I'm looking at the companions and what I have a choice of. Mages seem like a good selection and a strong group in general. Better than DAO..I liked the DAO:A mages better. So though I love a mage I am not leaning as much that way because of the good selection and I'd have to keep Carver :)... So I'm left with Rogue and Warrior. Trying to see which will be needed the most and will leave me with a good mixture in my party. Though I can't help it I do not like two handed sword so my tanks will get S&S

I can't pick. 2H Warriors are AoE kings, but I'm not much of a Warrior guy. Mages have the best overall DPS (good single target and AoE) and have various builds, but are frail. Archer Rogues may be my favs judging by the demo, with probably the best sigle target DPS, but you got Sebastian and Varric already.

So who else is in the "I can't pick my class for the first playthrough" club?

When did that happen?

I'm not sure I'd call them "kings" per ser, but they can really hold their own against a large group.

Au thx :D

2H warrior if they are viable tanks, which they appear to be. Otherwise the good ol' sword and board.

Whats wrong with that? It's a decent looking Mage robe to me.

It's definitely a step up. The ones that were available in Origins looked like Bioware picked them up at the "Robes for peasants" outlet.

Wow...was set on playing male Warrior (like my Warden) Was simply a question over 2H or S&S
Would have considered male mage if Bethany stuck around

Rogue was a distant third on the list but just tried it on the demo with Lady Hawke and it was great fun! Posted Image

So different with speed the emphasis over force

Now I don't know what to think anymore Posted Image

Men shouldn't wear dress-looking robes ^_^

I don't want it for my character either, so again - mage or warrior? Damn..

Agreed!  I can't get over the dress/robe wearing.  Just too much of a stretch for me, but at least they get a cool looking staff instead of some goofy Harry Potter-esque wand.

2H warrior for me.  It just doesn't feel right blasting enemies from afar.  I like to be in the thick of things and I especially like taking the magic users down.  As such, I'm really liking the templar tree.

Assuming that any of the 3 classes will get Hawke those incredible red glowing eyes from all the DA2 trailers, I'll proly go warrior. I love diving head first into combat with a huge 2H weapon. Then again I love the new swordstaffs, but I'm afraid those are restricted to mages, which might make me change my mind at some point during the first half of the game.

Already settled on a rogue for my canon Hawke. I usually play a warrior first but found it a tad boring in the demo. Even more so than a mage which I usually never play.
