Defo being a mage first (because they're so freakin' badass now!) and romancing Anders ;)
Then I might be a rogue and romance Fenris. Or be a mage again because I don't really like Bethany.. Hmm.

Assuming that any of the 3 classes will get Hawke those incredible red glowing eyes from all the DA2 trailers, I'll proly go warrior. I love diving head first into combat with a huge 2H weapon. Then again I love the new swordstaffs, but I'm afraid those are restricted to mages, which might make me change my mind at some point during the first half of the game.

That was Blood Magic powered vision

well i came to a conclusion... if i start with mage, war is my second playthru. if i start with war, archer rouge is my second go. if i start with archer rouge, mage is second go... so for me ill just pick one of the 3 listed at random then go from there. thats how im going about it.

My suggestion: If you're well and truly on the fence, play the exaggerated prologue with each class to try them all out at late-game strength and see which one you like the hands-on feel of best.

If that part is indicative of actual endgame strength... then mage deals about 10 times single target DPS of a Rogue.

I really feel like trying out a rogue, personally. However I couldn't care less about Bethany this far. Carver seems quite interesting though, especially when you consider that he's supposed to be more of a rival. Seems like it could lead to some funny brother/brother banter.

Angsty Warrior or archer rogue - Warden is a mage in origins, so it'd be good to try something else... though mage does need to be done some time.

Doesn't using magic make you ... a magician? Thor and Sephiroth aren't "just" Warriors...

Well, "Thor" is a demigod, and I'm not really sure what he commands other than lightning and having a magical hammer.  Storm could be considered a "magician" as well by that logic, but she's just a mutant.  Sephiroth is more like an Omega level Mutant as well, although my memory is foggy -- I don't remember if he was imbued before actually being "born" or if it happened later.

Now that I think about it though, that's a moot point anyway, because by their very nature, Mages are mutants too.

I've played the DW Rogue for a couple of hours; really liked all the "ninja'ing". Single target DPS is superb.

BUT

I am noticing that almost all battles involves in fighting a group of mobs... so wouldn't a 2H warrior be more devastating?

I'm torn, and it is not too late to start over again :D.

I generally like being in the front line and cleaving enemies up. Should I start over as a warrior instead? :? Would it be too "dull" compared to DW rogue? How big of a difference in single target dps are we talking about here?

Me, for my first and only playthrough. The game isn't good enough to warrant more than that.

So far I have played a Rogue to level 6 and a Mage to level 8. Gonna try a Warrior soon and finish my favorite first.
