Yes folks, Dragon Age 2 is not as technically advanced as it could be: I think we all understand that. However, even though the environment in the demo was a bit on the bland side, I'm hard-pressed to complain about these:

It may not be as advanced as Mass Effect 2 or the like, but DA2 looks fine to me.

Maybe to you, but there for a few things to complain about actually from a technical standpoint (since that blog brags so much about it)

will edit post with findings:

There are a couple of issue to be sorted:

1) Bioware has never been known to produce state of the art graphics. Infact some of the environments they have created have been ugly.

2) Every game has it's technical shortcomings.

If you are looking for better graphics wait for Witcher 2 or Skyrim.

will edit post with findings:
- Shadows have improper contrast
- Light sources eject from source, and aren't affected by geometry around it (see fireplace)
- light sources don't create shadows (candles, fireplace, etc) shadows other than the player are static.
- somewhat blurry textures

I don't think the all the lighting sources in the game has these problems.

Graphics don't matter. The game matters.
People just annoy me sometimes.

The game will be in DX11 and theres a high texture pack. It will be much better than origins. Hell, the demo that was locked on medium settings has better textures than origins.

The graphics in DA:O were pretty sad. I loved the game, but it was not impressive to behold.

After the DA2 demo, I was a bit worried. Unlike many seem to do here, though, I didn't overreact or slip into Chicken Little-mode (I just don't have that mode, honestly). Now, having seen the screens I've seen in the last few days, I'm content.

DA2 is not stunning to behold; but, some of the PC screen shots I've seen are damn nice. I hope my PS3 version is nearly as solid.

I've never played The Witcher, and couldn't get into any of the Elder Scrolls games, thus far. That said, I'll look into Skyrim, and The Witcher 2 looks like the type of game I'd love to play, if it were released on PS3.

I don't get the seething anger that complimenting these games inspires. Everyone who knows me well knows that "Bioware makes the best games" (or so I often proclaim). I, an avid Bioware fan, feel that The Witcher 2 looks significantly better, based upon the screens I've seen of each. It has a similar look to Assassin's Creed 2, in my opinion. That doesn't mean "DA2 sucks and The Witcher is great", it just means I prefer the latter's look.

Why so much anger?

 Are they using lightmaps?

I think the graphics look fine, and the demo didn't include the recently released high res texture patch. I'd wait to comment once u have a system that is running the full version of the game with the new patch.

That's just where it's gotten to.  What initially annoyed people were "DA2 clearly sucks, Witcher 2/Skyrim will uberpwn!" comments that seemingly everyone with a DA2 axe to grind felt obligated to make practically every other post.  Now, after so much sheer repetition, for a lot of people that annoyance has become associated with the games themselves. That's just how we humans roll, psychologically speaking.
