I don't mind British accent (can't imagine the other ones off the top of my head) but it's probably the voice that irritates me the most. For some reason it just sounds like an old woman to me lol.Aether99 wrote...

If Aveline was romancable as a widow, that would be cool but merril to me
is like that quiet girl you get at school who smell like pee.
Isabela is too pushy for me, I am a gentleman

I originally romanced Merril because I thought she was cute and I enjoy ruining her innocence. But then she went bat-sh!t crazy with the whole "MIRROR, DEMONS, BLOOD MAGIC" thing which made me regret it. Plus her romance outfit is hideous and hurts my eyes.
Eh? Her romance outfit is great.
Cover the whole body, stlyish and protective.

Personally, they both got on my nerves.
Isabella was selfish, belittling and back-stabbing, along with being arrogant and unrepentant. Kind of interesting, but not attractive whatsoever. I actually grew to really dislike her, once she started throwing her tantrums at the end of the game. Unfortunately, I had no rational answers to intermediate our disputes, such as "Let's just go kill your problem. We just got through killing a high dragon. Your little loan shark won't be a problem at all." She never learned, unfortunately. More problematic throughout events, her obsession with sex turned her into a cartoon character in her 2-dimensionality. Any time you mentioned anything vaguely sexual, like a 14 year old boy, her head would pop into the doorway. "SEX!?" Yes, Isabella. Sex. We get it. You like sex. Go away, now.
Merill was similar. I started out really liking her, for obvious reasons. She was cute, and said cute things. Then she said more cute things. Then, she kept saying them, even when the context did not warrant it. Eventually, it became artificial. It felt more like the writers were dropping "cuteness" into normal dialogue, in the same way sex was with Isabella. The dialogue for her didn't flow well in many parts, as a result. She, as well, became a characterization of herself. Topping that off was her shtick of "if you don't do as I say then I'll hate you forever." It was almost as bad as Anders. Eventually, I decided to give her whatever she wanted, let her make her own horrible mistake, then lecture her on her foolishness after the very obvious inevitably happened. It was so inevitable that she reacted to it before it even happened! Quite amazing, that. Even this left me feeling annoyed, because it made it clear that nothing I could ever say or do was going to change this outcome. She was determined to be a 2-dimensional fool, and that's what she got.
I was always partial to Morrigan in Origins.
You know, you can get Merrill to give up blood magic and the Mirror.
Rivalry is not hate.

Let's see: I'm not a pedophile so that rules out the 12 year old. And I'm not partial to being the 128th notch in the bedpost so that rules out Isabella.
Amazing: Bioware have made incest seem the least morally objectionable option! Wait, that's not actually an option is it?
Crap. Hope there's someone nice in ME3.
Is the whole '12 year old' thing still going on? Honestly, just knock it off. It's ridiculous.
Besides, I'm willing to be that the people that say Merril looks to young won't have a problem watching a pronz involving some 18 year old girls that look as old as she.
How about you be allowed your opinion and I be allowed mine, mmmkay? Last I checked we hadn't actually voted you king of the internet. Please let me know if that changes.
And being as I am one of those who dislikes the young adolescent aesthetic for romances in the game, I assure you I have no interest in watching 'pronz' featuring similar-looking girls. Or for that matter, pronz at all. I have, y'know, an actual wife and I don't see the need for 'pronz' when I get to 'play' for real. So, I guess you lose your bet.
Anyhow, I actually did end up 'romancing' Isabella after all. I did like her confidence and humor, and the way she interacted with Merril, despite the rest of it. I'm still not overly enthused about either option though. Neither holds a candle to Leliana or Morrigan IMO.

Ive noticed her romance outfit gets really mixed opionions. I love it myself - makes her look like how I picture the Elves back when they ruled the world - guess Ive been reading too much Tokien.

Yeah, I think elimccl missed the boat on both characters. As mentioned you can get Merrill to give up the mirror thing. She was 100% rival and stuck with me to the end.
Isabela always came off as "me first" but responded well when Hawke scolded her about doing the right thing. Maybe that only happens when you hit 100% reputation, but regardless I admire her for her ability to change.
I like both characters. Very unlike the rigidly static characters in most other Bioware games.

Isabella looks like a cheap STD infested ****, so again, NO, THANKS. You like sex with anything that moves. Ok. I get it.
To put this in perspective, I enjoyed the romances in DAO. Lelianna is sweet and have a sexy accent. I also love her personality and her morality even if she is a bit preachy sometimes. It feels like Lelianna will follow you to the deepest part of the Deep Roads and the highest hill on the Bercillian forest who will never abandon you in your time of needs. She is best described as a very dependable, fun and lovely partner.
Morrigan on the other hand feels like a very controlling manipulative ****, yet maintains a mysterious and alluring charm. When romancing with her, I get a very unique sensation of her owning you. She always seems to be a step ahead of you. You know she is using you for something but yet something about her is very attractive. It is kind of like going into a very dark cave in which you know there is something dangerous in the end yet you can't help yourself but go to the deepest part to see what is actually there.
DA2 romance options simply do not feel as rewarding.

Let's see.
1.: Broody McElf the hypocritical Final Fantasy reject with a face like a doll and a voice like a six foot bouncer.
2.: Whinypants Guevara the posessed mage with anger-management problems. Likes to agonize endlessly and to blow up things.
3.: The pantless Pirate who will put her slender daggers into your back at every opportunity, and will still expect you to forgive her as soon as she deigns to pout at you.
4.: Bloody McGerbil the cute little girl who practises blood magic. I really hate girls who act like her, the whole, I'm so small and you need to protect me thing. They only succeed in making me want to push them into puddles.
Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

plus physical wise, Isabella is irresistible, she's just too damn hot, i dont care if she's arrogant and somehow a thief, but in the end, if you romanced her ( just before the end of the final act )
She is actually pretty sweet
also i have made up my choice that i want to be with Isabella in Dragon Age 3, and not Merril, although i have 2 other save game that is with Merril and Anders too

I'm still tossing up Anders and Isabela. Those thighs mmmmmmmm. But Anders is so cute, and sweet "I'm sorry, I shouldn't presume.".
I'll probably end up having Anders for my mage, and Isabela for my warrior.
