I am just curious here.

Did any of you buy the game beacuse the marketing was attractive to you? How many of you expected the game to have tons of metal music etc? :-P

How many of you have previous played Bioware titles? And which ones? Just interested to see if the people playing this are fans of games like Mass Effect and KOTOR, or are they fans of more classic titles like Baldur's Gate II.

Lastly, how many have never played a game like this before, but because of your positive experience, are willing to see an even deeper and complex system in Dragon Age 2?

Personally, this game reminds me far more of Baldur's Gate I than Baldur's Gate II.

I played KoTOR 1/2 and ME and liked em well enough, but what really pulled me into DAO was the Sacred Ashes trailer, it looked absolutely fantastic. Looking back on that trailer now I have mixed feelings, but the game was still very fun.

I played lets see
Fallout 1 and 2
Baldurs Gate 1 + 2 and TotSC and ToB.
Planescape Torment
Neverwinter Nights, SoU and HotU
KotOR
Mass Effect
Jade Empire.

I also played and actually enjoyed NWN 2 and KotOR 2 (though neither of these are bioware games Obsidian is similar enough, just not as "polished")

I have yet to find a Bioware type game that I have not enjoyed, and DA is the best since BG2 though neither of them have the same scope of story that Planescape Torment did.

I buy any PC game by bioware. I trust their brand. Only bioware games I haven't bought were games release for consoles first (jade empire and mass effect), I may eventually get those though. I hear they are decent.

Until Bioware releases a bad game, I'll continue buying from them.

To be quite honest this is the first game i've played by Bioware. And i do regret i haven't tried any of the others because this game is a masterpiece.

Reason i bought it was because a friend of mine told me about it.

Jade empire is a great game with a magnificent setting, I loved it very different to any other RPG, however it is more of an action RPG than the traditional one and plays best on the PC but with a joypad.

Its a lovely game but a little short (I think 25 hours with all side quests done)

I buy anything Bioware releases on release day. I dont wait for reviews, I already know the quality is there. Their reputation as well as my past experiences with them make it easy. It just goes to show you that if you actually care about your customers and dont see them as 'meatbags' placed soley on this earth to hand you money and you stand behind the quality of your product you tend to have loyal customers that buy your games.

**Proud owner of DA:O, Kotor, Jade Empire, NWN2, and Mass Effect - all PC version**

Bio had nothing to do with any of the Fallout games or Planescape - that was Black Isle Studios (now basically Obsidian).

That aside, this pretty much sums up why I bought this game. Bio know their stuff when it comes to high fantasy single player RPGs. Ok NWN was an utter let down, but I consider it a blip on an otherwise sterling record.

I bought the original Baldur's Gate back in 1998, I think I read a review on it somewhere. Damn, what a game! I bought the expansion, then BG 2 + its expansion, without hesitation.

Baldur's Gate 2 has been THE computer rpg for me. I've been playing it every every now and then, with different mods, for over 10 years! No other game comes close in time spent playing.

I didn't need any convincing when Bioware finally released a new fantasy rpg, I pre-ordered when it became available. I'm now near the end on my first character (human noble rogue, hard difficulty), and while there are some bugs, I haven't encountered anything gamebreaking. Time will tell how well this game stands the test of time, but so far I'm quite hooked.

I do agree that Baldur's Gate II is probably the best RPG of all time, but this is definitely nearly as good so far. I just can't stop playing Dragon's Age. It keeps going from strength to strength, and continues to impress.

If any of you guys are stil young, do yourselves a favor and get into Baldur's Gate II. I won't lie -- it will take a bit to get used to it.

But you can get some mods that will update the resolution to modern day standards. Give it the time it deserves, and it will be the best RPG you have ever played.

The game is absolutely supreme. It is like Dragon Age's legendary father or something. :-P

DA isn't bad either. I just went through ruins in the elven forests, and that was tremendous fun!

edit:

Also, I know a lot of people were excited by Fallout 3 and went back and played Fallout 1 and were disappointed. Baldur's Gate II is different. The story is deeper and richer than most modern day RPGs, as are the game mechanics.
That game had the best NPCs ever. Minsc and his hamster Boo, Jaheira, and Viconia. Fine game. :)

Neverwinter Nights, KotOR, Jade Empire all were pretty much why I decided to buy this without even thinking twice. I also bought ME without thinking twice, but I figured it was a small bump in the road.

I've been an RPG nolifer for... Let's just say a very long time. Played lots of them, like NWN, Kotor, Baldurs Gate, Jade Empire, all that good stuff, and when Dragon Age were announced with punchlines such as "Baldur's Gate challenger for the throne of RPG" and "Dark fantasy without silly guns and stuff" I just went Oooh, shiny and bought it.

And I don't regret I did, it is the best RPG i've played since Baldurs Gate II

I've played ALL Bioware games except MDK2, Shattered Steel and Sonic. This game is exactly what I thought it would be and is the pinnacle of Single Player PC RPGs since Baldur's Gate.

Except for Sonic and any other portable titles (I dislike portable gaming except tetris and pac man and chess and casual games) I'll buy any Bioware game that comes out without hesitation and be shocked if it isn't great.

I bought it because I trust the company like no other in the industry. At this point, when they make a game, I buy it.

Because it was made by Bioware - Baldurs Gate being a game that I have replayed frequently since I first bought it a very long time ago. Dragon Age didn't dissapoint my expectations.

Well, I'm a fan of Biowares previous work, and Dragon Age looked very interesting when I saw the videos of it, so consequently I preordered it as soon as I could, and I'm glad I did.

I buy every game Bioware makes since BG.

Anybody remember a game called Icewind Dale? I thought Bioware made that as well but I could be mistaken.

I think IWD was made by BlackIsle? They were the ones who made Planescape Torment, and went to become Obsidian (KOTOR2, NWN2, that secret agent RPG coming up)...

I've always liked party based RPG's and the last one I played was Wizardry 8, I needed something new. Plus, there are very few of these types a games out there. It's like collecting rare gems I suppose.

I'm a BioWare fan and I have been itching for a quality RPG for quite some time now, the choice was fairly obvious for me.
