So why did you buy this game?

Did any of you buy the game beacuse the marketing was attractive to you? How many of you expected the game to have tons of metal music etc? :-P
How many of you have previous played Bioware titles? And which ones? Just interested to see if the people playing this are fans of games like Mass Effect and KOTOR, or are they fans of more classic titles like Baldur's Gate II.
Lastly, how many have never played a game like this before, but because of your positive experience, are willing to see an even deeper and complex system in Dragon Age 2?
Personally, this game reminds me far more of Baldur's Gate I than Baldur's Gate II.

Fallout 1 and 2
Baldurs Gate 1 + 2 and TotSC and ToB.
Planescape Torment
Neverwinter Nights, SoU and HotU
KotOR
Mass Effect
Jade Empire.
I also played and actually enjoyed NWN 2 and KotOR 2 (though neither of these are bioware games Obsidian is similar enough, just not as "polished")
I have yet to find a Bioware type game that I have not enjoyed, and DA is the best since BG2 though neither of them have the same scope of story that Planescape Torment did.

Until Bioware releases a bad game, I'll continue buying from them.

Bio had nothing to do with any of the Fallout games or Planescape - that was Black Isle Studios (now basically Obsidian).
That aside, this pretty much sums up why I bought this game. Bio know their stuff when it comes to high fantasy single player RPGs. Ok NWN was an utter let down, but I consider it a blip on an otherwise sterling record.

why wouldnt I pick up DA?
IMO ... BG2 = 10/10 <--- first pc wrpg, I came from FF and Shining force
NWN 9/10
KOTOR 9.5/10
JE 8.5/10
ME 10/10 <--- felt like an interactive action-movie never had anything similiar before
DA 9.5/10
So yeah, im def getting the next bioware game also...

Baldur's Gate 2 has been THE computer rpg for me. I've been playing it every every now and then, with different mods, for over 10 years! No other game comes close in time spent playing.
I didn't need any convincing when Bioware finally released a new fantasy rpg, I pre-ordered when it became available. I'm now near the end on my first character (human noble rogue, hard difficulty), and while there are some bugs, I haven't encountered anything gamebreaking. Time will tell how well this game stands the test of time, but so far I'm quite hooked.

If any of you guys are stil young, do yourselves a favor and get into Baldur's Gate II. I won't lie -- it will take a bit to get used to it.
But you can get some mods that will update the resolution to modern day standards. Give it the time it deserves, and it will be the best RPG you have ever played.
The game is absolutely supreme. It is like Dragon Age's legendary father or something. :-P
DA isn't bad either. I just went through ruins in the elven forests, and that was tremendous fun!
edit:
Also, I know a lot of people were excited by Fallout 3 and went back and played Fallout 1 and were disappointed. Baldur's Gate II is different. The story is deeper and richer than most modern day RPGs, as are the game mechanics.
That game had the best NPCs ever. Minsc and his hamster Boo, Jaheira, and Viconia. Fine game.

Except for Sonic and any other portable titles (I dislike portable gaming except tetris and pac man and chess and casual games) I'll buy any Bioware game that comes out without hesitation and be shocked if it isn't great.

Anybody remember a game called Icewind Dale? I thought Bioware made that as well but I could be mistaken.
