It's well established that blood mages can sunder the Veil and summon demons to do their bidding, and yet I'm a blood mage, and I can't summon demons! WTF?!
It's completely ridiculous.
Why can't I summon demons?

Your character never actually appears to learn how to summon them in-game. It's possible you need to do some verbal ritual, as per Avernus in Warden's Keep. Yeah, you can probably talk to some demons in the fade while you sleep, but what are the chances of encountering one in the 8 hours you're sleeping?

Because it would be too powerful. Also once anyone saw you summoning demons no one would deal with you for any reason and you would have many blood hunts called down on you. Particularly by the Chantry.

Perhaps your companions would finally notice that you're a blood mage if you were able to summon demons, since using blood sacrifice on them doesn't seem to do the trick, or any other blood mage spell.

If your on PC theres mods that change shapeshift and a summon or two for differant specs into demons.
Its just impractical and dangerous, though from a powergamer standpoint.....ok the plan is im going to summon some demons and were going to amush them when they come through the portal for exp and loot. What could go wroung?

Demons aren't really the best type to consort with. Very treacherous and manipulative creatures.
Best avoided, but if you have to work with them(and you never have to) you should double cross them before they can do it to you.
