Suggestion for HoTU alternative?? (Level 13-16 start)

I finished  a triliogy that ended with this mod.
http://nwvault.ign.c...&comment_page=7

I like the overall balance here. Not overly hefty on the magic items, not overly insane combat. It is a really good alternative to SoU. I liked it better than SoU. It is also desert based.

I would like something that is a good pickup where this left off. My character is Level-15 (fighter/DwDefender/Rogue).

So I guess I am looking for an alternative to HoTU. I have played HoTU into the ground.

Suggestions?? It doesn't have to go to epic levels (I really don't like Epic anyway). Just something to play the same character in another small adventure.

Are there are any good mods that actually start at the 13-16 level range?? Or are they all part of a series at that point? I find the NWVault search engine completely inadequate for giving a good list of module with that starting range.

I don't think I played Midnight Calling yet, so anything I could say won't matter, therefore, I shall say it anyway.

What you just wrote, also the title itself, maybe, made me think of:
Desert Rose
Sands of Fate 1 - Shadows over Heliopolis
The Rose Of Eternity - Chapter 1 - The Coming

Assuming you already read this The Best Module in your opinion is? thread.
(Those are all series, to be played from the beginning indeed.)
And, of course the one in my signature.

I have played most of the top modules. Played all Sands of Fate, The parts of Rose of Eternity (no third grrrr!).

I haven't played Desert Rose but note that it is mainly for pure rogues (or close). My character I would like to continue using is mainly a fighter.

I think I will edit my title to something more familiar.

The only one I played and is not a sequel of something is this:
NWS - Cradle of Cold
Well it is short.

This one(which I also played) is loosely connected with the prequel:
'A Mountain of Trouble' v1.06
This one is rather heavy on H&S.

Have you played Demon by Adam Miller? Unfortunately you would have to play the previous campaigns(shadowlords and dreamcatcher, but they are worth it) with a new char for the story and then load demon with the desired char to levelup.

There are of course others that I have not  played yet.

I've never understood the perjorative comments about SoU, and think it seriously under-rated. Jumping kobolds! Geez, what more could you ask for? :)

Sorry, I tried to come up with some helpful suggestions but only found two supposedly good modules in that range that other players suggested to me and that I haven't played myself yet. And unfortunately they both seem to rely on pre-made characters provided with the modules and I think that's exactly what you are NOT looking for ...
:(

Personally I've never found it much fun to play a community module with a character from another campaign if that character is allowed to bring along all the items that the new module can by no means take account of and be balanced for, especially since there's never been a common measure of value as far as balancing modules is concerned. But of course my personal opinion on the matter at hand doesn't help you much either ...
;)

(Might be an interesting community project to establish such a common measure of value and then intitiate a community challenge to create short adventures for each character level, so that all entries could be played in a row afterwards).

Oliver. I get what you are saying but there isn't any sane sense of
balance even when playing all in the Authors series with only his items.
They vary from walkover to I need the debug console to get through this
one....

I ended Midnight Calling at 15" level with some +3 gear. I doubt I will be overpowered...

Thanks Werelynx. I have downloaded those two and:
Narcopolis

I just want to put to rest that I finished the series and left hanging without a chance to try some things I found...

One of these should do the trick.

Narcopolis is a quite an original one, just be aware that it's a totally different experience than your average NWN module, you need an open mind to appreciate it. And it's a sequel of sorts to Stormy Night, but I think it's not compulsory to play that first.

Btw, have you noticed this sticky, listing modules by level range? If not, it might help you find what you're looking for.

Yeah, I found that after I posted. It is essentially the best that I could hope for.  Unless many are missing depending on how they were discovered. That is how I found Narcopolis.

If you've never played the Aielund Saga, you could technically start the third Act with that character, the level and gear sounds about right. Having the background of the first two Acts is nice (and I'd recommend you play them at some point), but you could get into Act III easily enough. Worst that would happen is spoilers for Acts I and II. Of course, you could also play Acts I and II with another character and then start Act III with your character so you see everything...

I have already played Aielund. I wasn't really looking for something big anyway.

I just played NWS - Cradle of Cold.  It was the perfect light transition after Midnight Calling.

In that series you are in the desert, but there is section of mountains similar to NWS: Cradle of Cold. So it is a very good leaving the desert transition. My Dwarven Defender was almost the perfect choice to go put some Frost Giants in their place as well.

I will probably play narcopolis at my leisure now.  But I no longer have that "left hanging" feeling after a big series ends.

Thanks for the tips folks.
