I was changing the Squad Power Usage setting in ME1 PC Steam version to defense only when I noticed that my diffculty setting for the game had changed from hardcore to normal. I set it to hardcore and reloaded it to see if it was reset it and sure enough it did.

I'm on my 2nd playthough and I'm wondering if reload my save from eden prime right before the beacon and set the game diffculty to hardcore activate the becon then save it after i wake up on the normandy in the medical bay. Wouldl I be able to load my save game where i just finished pinnacle station and be able to finish the game and get the Hardcore achievement?

Or am i going to have to delete any saves after eden prime and redo what i've already done? I didn't relize there was a load game bug that resets the diffculty or i would have been checking this the entire time on my 2nd playthough.

Level may be saved with the save file? Did you try changing the level, then creating a new save then loading that save?
