It's an RPG, friggin role-play it! I think some folks are just being difficult about this.

In all honesty, I don't really care as long as the character is interesting to me and there's something about them that I could get hooked on.

In some part of America 14 is the le age of consent, at least for males. on average though for both genders it is 16, with some states also having the age of consent at 15, 17, and 18.

I know I'm dragging us further off-topic, but I don't think some people are getting what Suron is saying.

S/He is saying that Merrill looks 12 to him/her and others, and that turns him/her off. It's a vaild complaint, because Merrill could very easily pass for a child.

But Merrill could also pass for an adult in the eyes of other.

So, telling someone they're an idiot because their opinion differs from yours isn't really fair. Neither side is right or wrong.

Your opinion is not the only thing described in your post.  You went beyond giving your own opinion and attempting to validate it and then went so far as to condemn any on these forums and the developers as pedophiles.  If what you say is true, then this game clearly caters to a segment of the population who craves an interactive experience with an underage girl of a sexual nature.

I'm not going to try and defend the character of Merrill or those posters who support this character as potentially a youthful-looking adult female.  Taking your comments seriously means that this is, in fact, a serious problem and perhaps should be addressed by Bioware.

On the off-chance that your views could be ethnically slanted based upon your own personal experiences with peers at such an age, then maybe your argument is limited by what you have seen and done up until now in your own life and doesn't reflect other possibilities, such as different cultures you have yet to see or experience.

There are many women, in asian, pacific islander, and other cultures who are young to middle-aged adults that look similar in age to a 12 year old of perhaps causasian, latino, or african american ethnicity.

But if I were to argue on your points, then yes....there is a serious problem with this game.

Duh fuuuuu? The youngest I knew of was 16. What back country hillbilly state is letting 14 year old babies just getting their periods get knocked up by 30 year old men and letting that be ok? 14 year old girls are mad stupid.

No doubt, and I find shorter and skinnier people sexy in some circumstances, but facially they made her look VERY young. And even though I'm 17 almost 18, I would still feel like a pedophile romancing Merrill.
