I didn't use her much on my first run through DA:O but I liked using Morrigan as an ice-based damage dealing mage, especially since there seem to be a lot of items that increase ice damage early in the game. Last playthrough I usually had Wynne as my healer, but I'm not going to use her this playthrough and so Morrigan has the duty of healing too.

I don't want to make it so she sucks at both things, though. What's a good build for her to keep her decent at both things? Are the buff spells within the Creaton school worth ignoring for this purpose? In fact, is the healing branch of Creation the only part I should focus on? I'm currently, perhaps naively, considering just going for various more simple damage spells, plus the healing branch plus the hex branch. I'm also interested in the Attributes I should be aiming for too.

Edit
I'm also wondering about what specilisations to use. Spirit Healer sounds good but, again, I'm not sure of the balance of healing abilities vs damage abilities, along with additional bonuses like crowd control.

She's a better healer as a Blood mage. The controll from blood wound makes the fight require less healing. She wont match Wynne, wont come close. So you have to use controll to substitute.

ill lay out a progression.
As she levels....

Cone of Cold
Forcefield
Heal
Telekinetics
Crushing Prison
3 Books + Level Mana Clash you should know where to go after that.
Glyph of Paralysis
Glyph of Warding
Glyph of Repulsion
BloodMage or Spirit Healer - Each path is viable.
Rejuv
Regen

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Edit
Uh, actually, just re-reading that, I'm not sure what you mean by this line "3 Books + Level Mana Clash you should know where to go after that." I know the spell Mana Clash, but I'm not sure what you mean by what comes before that, exactly.

merchants sell 2 kinds of books in thier potion section for 22g that will give 1 attribute and one spell or ability. There are other books that will give skills or just attributes as well.
