All right, phew, sorry, new here. 

Well, I... have a problem, in the sense that I would like to install NWN on my computer ( I play on my brother's) but I have lost the game CD (not the installation ones). I still have both expansions (which of course, is why I can still play...) but I don't think I can installl NWN properly without that CD.

Is there a (legal) way around that ? Can I transfer some specific files and get it to work, or maybe I hopefully am simply mistaken and it is possible ?

Sorry if this may sound like a silly question, but it would be a shame to have to buy the game again when I still have it.

The computer works on vista by the way, and I have no patches (so v1.59) or overrides of any form except for those which might have been installed along with the expansions.

Anyway, great to see that the NWN community is active, I started to learn scripting a little in july so I'm a very late newcomer.

Well you don't need the CD to play these days, provided you have different/unique keys than his you can simply transfer the installation over and put your keys in the nwcdkey.ini.

I think you need a more recent patch to play without the CD... And what do you mean by transfer the installation over and that bit with the CD keys ? I still have them, but I don't have that CD...

Since it sounds like you still need the CD's to play the version that you are playing, Your first step is to update the game to the final version.  After you have have the game patched you will no longer need the CD's in the drive to be able to play the game.  You can find the ciritical rebuild for the version of the game you have at:

Once you have the game patched all you need to do is copy the entire NeverwinterNights directory(or where ever you have it installed at) over to the new computer.  Once you have the game copied over to the new computer you have have to update your new installation to the CD-Keys that it need to use.  After all you do not want it useing the same CD-Keys as the other computer.  The CD-Keys are located in a file named nwcdkey.ini  in the NWN directory (Or again where ever you installed it to).  The nwcdkey.ini can be opened with a simple text editor. If it does not let you open it at first select the open with option and select a text editor to open it with.  You then just need to edit the CD-Keys listed to the ones that you want to use and resave it under the same name.
