consider this a social experiment on my part to try and figure out your mentality and what you people are like and what makes you tick and what you desire/like/etc etc

it's a simple question

....what is the best rpg you have ever played?
(any pc/console/type/etc, strategy-rpg's, open world, fps-rpg, traditional, whatever)

just one title.. go ahead..

Bottom Line: WHAT IS THE BEST RPG YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED?  ^_^

SUIKODEN :) (old Playstation game)

to this day it remains the greatest RPG I have ever experienced <3

Tabletop RPGs depend more upon the people you play with than the game rules. I've been playing D&D for almost 30 years, so I would say I have plenty of room to judge that.

Console RPGs have yet to enthrall me at all.

I've never trolled the game forums for a game other than Dragon Age, so maybe that's the best. Maybe. Maybe I'm just not busy enough with work.

Aside from old school p&p d&d, it's gotta be the Baldurs Gate Trilogy.

I haven't played Torment yet though ( that's next for me )

On paper my own bastard version of AD&D, on computer it's gotta be a toss up between ultima 7 and torment.

Hmm. Hard choice. Close tie between Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2.

Planescape:Torment. Never been an RPG with such a deep storyline it's just in a class of it's own.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn or Planescape:Torment... hmmm...
I'll say BG2 because it has much more replay value.

you know everyone goes bananas over FF7.. sephiroth/cloud/etc whatever I personally didn't like it as much but the truth was out of all the final fantasies.. X was the best for me

it had the best characters/story/flow/etc and the singular most memorable moment/exchange in any rpg for me.. (only rivalled by the end of Suikoden)

when Yuna finally tels Tidus her fate.. and that she is dying.. that is her destiny.. and they were in the lake together..

she makes one request of him

Yuna: Will you.. will you stay with me? until the end
Tidus:  No.. not until the end. Always..

yea I'm a sap but it was unexpected and just the story up to that moment and the twist and .. yeah, it was great, FFX rocked

choose one :) if you can nominate one.. which would it be? (fyi FFIV is a heavy, HEAVY contender for me before I chose SUIKODEN.. so was Chrono Trigger and Xenogears (Xeno being the first console rpg to feature "nudity") but yeah.. great choices...

pick one
