A review is one person's opinion.
They represent the site. They aren't -the- site.

The ending is pretty poor, you have to buy the expansion for a conclusion
It was honestly the best campaign in the halo franchise. I really like the change in the art too.

Jade Empire is 'bad' in the same way Half Life 2: Episode 1 is 'bad.
It isn't bad, it's just a weaker link in a strong package. My ass of a friend, for example, implied that Jade Empire and Dragon Age were games that BioWare makes to tide over financially the years between Mass Effect game.
Truth be told, I don't think he's ever played Jade Empire or Dragon Age, and I'd be willing to make this generalisation of anyone who judges them as so.
A lot of people base their opinions on reviews, and how well known the game in question is. I'd definitely say there's a trend in the popularity to high opinions ratio.
People that came along because of Mass Effect will look at Jade Empire reviews and not play it, because of them. They'll still talk about how it's not a great game though, because they're pretentious and think they know best.
This ass friend also suggested that BioWare was a 'one-trick pony'. Saying that if they didn't make a pure Shooter or something soon he'd lose all respect for them. I'm not quite sure how creating numerous well-written and deep RPG games with tons of different lore and characters makes them a one-trick pony, or how making a pure Shooter would achieve any of the revelations BioWare have pioneered with their previous games.
I think that sadly this ass opinion is one that's widely shared by a lot of the people brought in solely by the Mass Effect games.
Ok Bioware is a phenominal game developer and one of my favorites, after reading your story about your ass of a friendI was inspired to share this interesting opinion I learned on one of Bethesdas game's forums, this guy was praising the heck out of all the Elderscrolls games, and the Fallout games, and this whole thread full of people were just bashing Bioware's games.
However I just want to focus on the post of one certain individual, who was praising Bethesda's games on strongpoints that they blatantely don't have, mainly story, combat and character interaction, which in my opinion are definitely more Bioware strongpoints then Bethesda.
Anyways then he comes out with the big guns, he was ranting how he just had to get out of this very forum, because he was physically disgusted and nauseated by Bioware fans, because apparantely out of any game that has a loyal fanbase apparently our forums are overrun with people in love with Bioware, who can't criticize or take criticism of a Bioware game, and he was happy to be among Bethesda fans who know when to criticize a game.
Well you know what, I couldn't help but smile when I happened along his post, didn't even dignify it with a response. My apologies for taking things OT, anyways enjoy everyone, we've earned a reputation on the net
So now there's two types of serious fans, there's Bioware fans, and there's Starwars Fans, wait a minute... what happens when you get a Bioware Starwars game?!;)
Actually there should be Battlefront wars between teams of fans. Best of three matches would declare what is the best game. And the losers would have to be one month silent aboout the winner's game.

IN the end ones own taste is more important then a reviewer and regardless of if the game is actually any good or not. These score only meaning anything together with at least the "conclusion part" that one knows how the went about getting the scores and why certain features got a certain score.

Personally, I tend to ignore both high and low reviews. Take the middle ground and you'll generally get a better picture. Not that it matters, I've liked more than a few games that had lousy reviews, nad hated one that rated very highly.
Article should be a good read though

I ignore reviews as well. The reviews for Alien Vs Predator were terrible, yet I loved it, lol. The reviews for Fable 3 were great, yet I hated it. It's all personal preforance.

8.25 is bad?
In a world where games typically fall between 7 and 9.5, it is bad, in a way.
I think what people are worried about is that DA2 will simply be--as the score implies in the rather warped system--average.
You know what average typically is? Mediocre. Sometimes it's the result of a company taking a different direction that the public is not ready for or simply dislikes.
In DA2's case, I imagine that if it's just 'average' and 'okay', it will be because it did not live up to its potential. After all, there's no reason DA2 should not be equal to or even better than Origins--BioWare has all the resources to do it. If it's not, it's because BioWare settled for average, being able to pump out mediocre products every eighteen months while resting on the laurels of their names and massive advertising to sell.

That coupled with the Fable 3 review being a 90, which someone mentioned, would mean that DA2 must be awful!
This is why I almost never trust reviews. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Well, reviews can give you a hint at least. Gamestar (ger.) for example gave DA:O 92% and DA2 "only" 87% and other mags seem to rate DA2 lower as well. That doesn't necessarily mean, that you personally will like DA2 not as much, as DA:O, but there is a good chance, that you will find DA2 inferior.

That mean only legitimate reviews are this:
PSM3 UK - 63
Eurogamer - 60
Edge Magazine - 50
that means DA:O was ****y game :-)
sorry for my bad english
