I wasn't expecting GOTY 2011, I was expecting fantasy RGP of the year 2011, which I'm suspecting it will be. Everyone knows LA Noir will be GOTY.
You think 8.25 rating will make da2 rpg of the year?
I thought it was obvious that Skyrim would be RPG of the year regardless.
I wouldn't discard Witcher 2 so fast... Oblivion was a huge disappointment to me, and I still believe pretty much all the hype around it was due to it being a technical marvel at the time. It kicked the doors of the seventh generation of gaming with a rotating machine gun and yelling "IT'S ON". Gameplay-wise, it was pretty lacking.
I have high hopes for Skyrim, since they seem to have adressed most of what I didn't care for in Skyrim, but man oh man, Witcher 1 was such a pleasant surprise and the second looks so beautiful I can't help but remain certain it's RPG of the Year material.
Which I believe DA2 also is. The greatest problem with DA2 is that it has to follow up an ode to old school ocidental RPG, epic in every sense. If anyone finds it lacking, it won't be solely because of its own demerits, but out of the greatness of its predecessor.
Witcher 2, however, comes from a discredited game from an unknown developer that grew tremendously in scope and quality, if the Enhanced Edition is any reference, while Skyrim comes from possibly the most noble of the still breathing ocidental RPG series and, as far as I'm aware, and being a longtime fan, the worst entry in the series.
Witcher 2 and Skyrim have to move forward. DA2 seems to have some trouble catching up, according to some reviews(not this one, OP seems to be trolling) and my own judgement of the, granted, incomplete gameplay of the demo. And Origins being Origins, that's perfectly understandable.
