Are you completely ignoring the fact that were in a thread discussing how DA2 got an 8.25/10?

DA2 has, on average, higher scores than DA:O

Are you completly ignoring the fact that DA2 isnt even released yet? How can it have higher scores without been released? You just cant compare it yet. In 1 month maybe.

...Reviews have already come out. Several of them. Don't be silly.

A game doesn't have to be released before it's reviewed

HENCE HOW IT HAS A 94/100 FROM PCGAMER

Does it really matter if it's rpg of the year or not? Does being rpg of the year create +5 enjoyment or something >.>

The year is so stacked it's going to have little to do with which game is better within it's type of rpg and more to do with which type of rpg the majority of reviewers prefer. Such as Open/closed world, Party/solo, Third-Person/First-Person, etc... and of course pure hype and reputation... which is all saying it really doesn't mean anything at all. I doubt Bioware even cares THAT much when they plan to release their two heavy hitters in the same year(whether that actually happens or not we will see)...

An open world is a type of video game level design concept where a player can freely roam a virtual world.[1]
The term is sometimes used interchangeably with "sandbox" and "free-roaming";[2][3] however, the terms open world and free-roaming describe the game environment itself and allude more to the absence of artificial barriers,[4] in contrast to the invisible walls and loading screens that are common in linear level designs.

The term sandbox refers more to the mechanics of a game and how, as in a physical sandbox, the user is entertained by his ability to play creatively, boundless of artificial structural constraints, and with there being "no right way"[5] of playing the game.

Despite their name, many open world games still enforce restrictions at some points in the game environment, either due to absolute game design limitations or temporary in-game limitations (such as locked areas) imposed by a game's linearity.

So technically no, open world doesn't necessarily mean it's a sandbox game, but in the example of games that have been listed, they are all the same.

Console reviewers are giving it higher scores. No surprise with the amount of work they did to cater to that base. PC reviewers are giving it similar or lower scores, again, no surprise, with the amount of work they did to cater to consoles.

It'll still be an enjoyable game, but it's definitely not going to be rpg of the year in a year that has this many solid rpgs coming out. :)

Yes we all know ME3 is going to dominate...

Are you basing this off professional reviews or amateur reviews... because basically all Professional reviewers get to play and score it before it is actually released. I have no doubt DA2 will get worse reviews from Amateurs because it will draw the ire of DA:Origins fans who wanted the game to be exactly the same. Something Origins didn't have to worry about because it was the beginning of it's own series.

Any game that scores above 7/10 is a good game, and any game that scores over 8/10 is excellent in my eyes.

Why do I always have to agree with my companions in DAO to get anywhere with them?

Because you still can?  Just not armor, but weapons, shields, rings and amulets still work.

And, yes, the PC version of DAO got low scores.

Uh... what? I'm counting 66 out of 67 positive reviews on Metacritic for DAO. The PC average is higher than the PS3 or Xbox360, too.

Anybody who thought a game besides Skyrim would have a chance at winning major awards is insane. Fair or not, Skyrim is the juggernaut. It will sell better than anything whether it deserves to or not.

that's honestly what i was kind of expecting/ hoping for. They rated it high enough being objective, which means I'm probally going to rate it higher. And of course it's going to be lower then Origins cause that game was perfection (damn near).

I don't have any idea either way, but it's always possible that the OP saw the gamefaqs thread (which was created yesterday) and posted here based on that thread.

The gamefaqs thread is pretty devoid of info too, though.  The OP there just says the score, that they kept comparing the console version to the PC version and that they said the replay value was high.  That could be fake.

Who knows?  We'll all be making up our own minds in a few days.
