And, yes, the PC version of DAO got low scores.

Uh... what? I'm counting 66 out of 67 positive reviews on Metacritic for DAO. The PC average is higher than the PS3 or Xbox360, too.

Anybody who thought a game besides Skyrim would have a chance at winning major awards is insane. Fair or not, Skyrim is the juggernaut. It will sell better than anything whether it deserves to or not.

Uh. No. Fallout 3 outsold every eldar scrolls by magnitudes

People are hyping Skyrim because that's how Eldar Scroll fans are

They thought the series was dead, so they send the hype through the roof.

Also, enjoy not being able to make custom spells in skyrim

Positive reviews in Metacritic's eyes is anything above a 60, if I recall correctly. But score systems are generally on a 4-point-scale anyway. Scores in the 60s and 70s are quite low.

Yes, DAO was a critical success. I'm not saying it's bad. I am responding to someone pulling out one review and judging DAII entirely by it. I was simply pointing out the fallacy in doing such--DAO was a great game, but if you want to take only the reviews that suit your theories, it's quite misleading.

This is deffo end of the world now. I mean how do you think I can go to a school when everyone points and laughs at me there saying "he said DA2 would get better reviews than the Witcher 2". :crying:

Yes, yes, we're delusional, you prefer The Witcher, you're still here because you're so much smarter than we are.

Lol, I am here because I like people in this forum and I am gonna probs have plenty of fun here when DA2 is released.

And don't prefer the Witcher since I haven't played it enough to have an opinion of it. I have only installed it, played the first fight and after that watched the hot red haired rouge walking. That was impressive though!

Just like Oblivion, and there was nothing fun about that game if it wasn't saddled with around 10+ mods just to make it bearable.  Oooh, shiny graphics 10++++++!  Too bad it ran like garbage on most PCs too without...a mod to fix it.

Any game that scores above 7/10 is a good game, and any game that scores over 8/10 is excellent in my eyes.

Actually I find reviews are highly dependent on the reviewer's bias. I look for certain things in a game. Some things I hate, a reviewer may love. Some things I love, a reviewer may hate. Fortunately most reviewers telegraph their biases pretty well in what they focus on, so it isn't too difficult. Someone above mentioned a reviewer gave DAO a 65 and DA2 a 90+. That actually concerned me, because anyone who hated DAO probably has an opinion with which I wouldn't agree. But, we'll see. I've stopped kevetching and will wait until I have the game to make up my mind.

We aren't sure if it's authentic. The OP has not reposted, and we're hearing no information about it from GI owners (I myself haven't received this copy).

Well, it got a good review. I mean, 8.25 is good (unless it's my father looking at my grades. In that case, anything lower than 10 is crap). And one of my favorite games of all time got several 2s, while games I hate have 10s and GOTY prizes in excess. I take reviews with a grain of salt, but if DA2 get high scores, I'll shove them in the faces of those idiots who keep saying RPGs are stupid!

10? More like 200. Still, one good thing about Bethesda is that they learn from their mistakes, Fallout 3 was much better than Oblivion game mechanics -wise. Still disastrously poorly balanced, only made worse by the DLC :pinched: So i expect to need atleast ~50 mods to fix Skyrim

Im sure I will enjoy DA2, even though I hate some of the changes. I think I might have expected too much for the followup after I played DAO. I think a lot of people had very high hopes that DA2 will beat the crap out of DAO, which will NOT happend. DAO is still King of Bioware fantasy RPG's

Average is 91, and the lowest I see is a 70 with everything else being 80 or above, but I do see your point. For the rest of it, don't you wish this forum had an ignore function? *commiserating smile*

Bleh game reviewers shouldn't be taken seriously. Most of them are fps lapdogs who might throw a point into a rpg review to please the fanboys. Ugggh...

OK, seriously? They gave a 9 to Fable 3?

Good God, they're even less reliable than GameTrailers!

Like I said, I was comparing it to someone claiming an 88 (or 8.25, in this case) isn't RPGOTY material. DAO was an RPG of the year, despite getting worse scores than 88s. On the console it got some pretty lousy scores.

I tend to only glance at reviews. I have a habit of enjoying games even if they received low ratings. I only take pause if the rating is really low.

I don't know. Point out that TW:EE got an 86, that TW2 isn't out and there's nothing but their own hype saying it's a good game (after all, it's combat is more action-y than DAII's, it has very little choice in characterization RPing, the protagonist is always male, voiced, and has an extremely elaborate past...), oh, and that we're not even sure that this GI score is authentic.

Plus, even DAO got scores in the 70s, 60s, and even 50s.

Trust me, it will

Tis' the best way to troll them
