That's kind of funny. So many complaints about the game being "dumbed down" because of console users and the first mod is a cooldown for how often you can heal.

Awesome...

This.

The one minute cooldown heal is now spammable? Why not just implement an "I WIN" button? Instead of a limited heal for tactical use, you can just mindlessly spam heal your way to victory. The people downloading this mod but complaining the game is being dumb down are hypocrites... or just dumb.

Or want to play a healer and dont want to have to wait 60 seconds in between a single button push

10 seconds is kind of overpowered, if it's designed to be 60 seconds. I'd have reduced it to 30 seconds or something.

increase the mana cost too.

Thanks for the mod! I hope this works in the full version. 60sec is bs.

The slogan should have been "Push a button, Awesome happens...but not if your a healer!" The whiners need to re-evaluate why they play RPGs if its solely because they want to prove how ub3r they are in combat.

Good work! Much more balanced now.

What are the odds that this will work on the game itself?

That's why you control the whole party.
Besides, Spirit Healer tree has another heal for you, and the game is balanced around reducing incoming damage rather than outhealing it, via active skills. Use them as well.

How dare you use logic and reason and suggest people try to play the game with the mechanics the developers intended it to have.

Seriously though, is it too much to ask that people give the actual final build a solid few hours of play before etching into the stone of their unchanging, yet still very fickle, minds that the communal collective knows better than the team of indiviuals that spent way more of their lives making the game than you guys will ever spend playing it?

Because its obvious healing was nerfed to throw a bone to all those whiners who want "Tactical" Party gameplay?
I know its hard to believe but some people play for *gasp* fun! Not to wave their wangs around proving who is a Tactical genius which is so not the point of RPGs.

I actually have to disagree with the folks who are saying this mod is a sign of hypocrisy on the part of people who said DA2 is dumbed down and less tactical. It's probable (though not certain, granted) that the people who are happy about this mod are not the same group that were complaining earlier. If anything, I'd say it's more evidence that it is a vocal minority who think DA2 is "dumber." And you know, "Nightmare Plus" mod aside, most of the mods I heard about and saw for DA:O made that game easier, too, even though they were labeled as "rebalancing."

They're likely both factions that are very loud minorities.  In fact, most everything on the internet is a very, very loud minority.  I mean, look at movies like Snakes on a Plane or Scott Pilgrim.  Both were insanely popular online, and both failed drastically at the box office.

You are right though, in that these are two different groups.  Two groups of the dozens represented here in the forums.

However, most mods I saw for DA:O were cosmetic.  New hairstyles, new armor, "prettier faces," nude mods, no helmet, etc.  (Most of the prettier faces seemed to focus on Morrigan, and most made her look worse IMHO).

Right. I meant most of the mods that affected the gameplay. IE, new armor and equipment was typically more powerful, rebalancing mods tended to benefit the player more than the computer (because the player tends to use the affected abilities more often and more intelligently) or ones that straight-up made the party stronger (Dog as a fifth party member). Nothing wrong with any of that, just an observation.

Thanks daywalker03, nice to see people already working on these issues.

It's hardy an issue it's how the game is designed for best playability and challange so if you use the mod don't even complain to the developers the game is to easy, it's your own fault.

I'd like to thank all the people that have posted in this thread so far; whether you like idea of the mod or not, your input is something I truly appreciate. I will most likely be posting a beta version, using the actual DA2 files as templates, either tomorrow night or Wednesday; I will also be posting several different versions, so you can choose exactly what changes are implemented to the Heal spell. I also will see if any other Creation Spell needs adjusted, and include those changes in the files as well.

I'd like a mod to put a helmet or hood/cloak on Hawke (female) during the Varrick "legend" scene.

I also downloaded this mod. I hated that it took so long for the heal to cooldown.

I know I'm speaking generally here, and I don't mean all of you: but PC gamers are amazing.

They'll come and complain for days about a game being dumbed down and too easy. Then hail a mod that makes the game even easier.

They complain about the artstyle being cheesy or whatever. You know they're gonna be creating or downloading the cheesiest, flashiest, animiest faces/hair/eyes/etc out there.

I mean, if you know you're going to hack the game to pieces to make it exactly how you like it, then why complain about it in the first place?

I'm not talking about the OP here, I'm just talking about a lot of PC gamers in general.

You should read the 3 posts 7-9 posts above yours.

Not that I don't enjoy reading the same conversations over and over again on the same page of a forum.  Especially when it's about pretending that an entire demographic of people all share the same exact similar mindset without deviation in the ranks.  I'm just thinking effeciency.  Which, as we know that all PC gamers are essentially the Borg, is one of the most important tenants of the hive's existence.

Resistence is futile. :alien:
