I personally... am simply not passionate enough to work myself up into a rage. My only issue with this game ever? Around the time we figured out the Warden was finished. For now at least. I got over it in a day. So you could consider their fierce dedication another reason to resort to whining/complaining/raging/etc.

People want Origins 2. Instead we are getting Dragon Age 2. That's why you have the complainers.

It's not exactly the same as Origins, so it has to be awful.
Or you can accept over the top reasoning like this.

I think if you approach this game not as a sequel, but as a game based on the Dragon Age Universe you will appreciate it more. That way when things are not familiar it's no big deal, and when they are it's a pleasant surprise. Bioware has always had great writers, so I am looking forward to the story if anything.

I guess I can see why people would be slow to embrace the changes. I, for one, am incredibly excited for what I believe to be major improvements to the game.

There's a reason why game designers get paid, and wannabes go to the forums.

I think that with all the changes they've made in for DA2 it's almost like it's not a true sequel. You have a framed narrative, Qunari have horns, you don't have your Warden nor can you play as another race. Those are just a few of the big changes. DA:O was RPG of the year, and many are going to be of the opinion "Why fix what ain't broke?".

I don't think it really is a sequel. It is, like you said, a game based in the dragon age universe.
And plus, the Warden's story was over. Dragon Age isn't about the warden.

You can .. but not every piece of equipment .. as far as i know you can equip them rings, braclets and belts (accessories in general) .. and their armor and weapons as far as i know get upgraded over time.
It isn't really a big deal ... there are many people who didn't like spending half their time playing the menu management game instead of actually enjoying the game itself (every single new item requires you to check all party members gear to make sure it is optimal .. too much of a hassle even for an RPG).
Look .. they wanted to try something new and different with DA2 .. and many people like it (and many others didn't like with all games) .. if you don't like .. simple .. don't buy it or play it .. you still have DA:O and all its expansions.

Depends on your definition of a true sequel .. subjective.

Framed narrative is a big bonus .. it allows your choices to have a more clear pronunced effect .. Qunari always had horns since DA:O .. Stern was a unique Qunari and a special case ... and you don't have to play a warden for it to be DA .. who said so !!!?

So what is the solution .. keep making the same thing over and over !!!?

That's pretty much it, it's been made to be simpler to get into, while Origins had almost every staple and intricacy of its genre. DA2 has made things simpler to appeal to a broader audience and left those that actually enjoy this dying breed of gaming sad at the notion that even the one company that brought them the last strategic party-based inventory-heavy epic in length and scope RPG seem to be abandoning ship.
Simple as that.

Why must it be a "People fear change?" or a "it's not exactly like Origins" thing.
As an example, I don't like the paraphrase system/dialogue wheel, don't like the carthwheeling rogue combat and the leaping warrior combat. These two things have NOTHING to do with DA2 not being like DAO, except for the fact that DAO didn't have these things. Fallout New Vegas doesn't have them either. Does that mean I dislike DA2 because it's not like FNV?
No, it simply means I don't like dialogue wheels/paraphrase covnersation systems, and I don't like combat that looks like a circus. I don't like them in ANY game.
Please, it's not always a "they changed DA:O!! Those ****s!!" issue. And I wish people would stop acting like it was.
