Why no faith in Dragon Age 2

Where are the combos? Where is the active blocking? Why are there so few animations for the standard attack?
That's just the surface of what bothers me about the combat ... I'm not bothered by change in general but change for the worse is not cool.

I've been watching streams of people playing this game, up to about the 10 hour point.
the game is very, VERY average. One thing I constantly get annoyed at is how stiff all the NPCs are. In the "dramatic convos", people just...stand there... the animation in this game is really quite boring and wooden. The world itself (kirkwall) is also damn, damn empty. And it's a real shame.
But yes, combat seems OK, story seems very forgettable, the entire setting is very bleh, and the dialogue is also, very forgettable.
This is why I don't have much faith in this being an awesome game, because I've seen a lot of it. And I will no longer be spending $60 on it. Maybe when it hits 40....
In a game set in one area that's unforgiveable.
You can't really have anything to dramatic for 2 reasons. Hawkes got to be bland to fit multiple personalities. You need to have gaps for conversations choices.
I'm feeling less and less like risking RSI of the thumb over this one.

Jade Empire clearly the best Bioware game up to date, it had vibrant colors, fast and furious combat and great characters on the screen (stop talking about BG and BG2 those were in 2D omg, they're old).
I'm so dissapointed with DA2.
They should have taken the ideas from JE to improve DA:O, and not from ME2. There's allways hope for DAO:3 doing it right, or even better... JE 2.

What I'm talking about is how there is almost NO animation in convos, and you see many, MANY convos.
Here's an example- early in kirkwall you need to get some NPC to pay up a debt. You have to beat up some of his buddies. OK, fine. Now, after you beat them, you get a little dialogue where the NPC goes (in an exasperated voice) , "oh no! please! please no more, stay away!!"
His animation while yelling this? Standing straight as a board, face is like a plastic doll, and he weakly shakes his hands back and forth.
I'm sorry, I thought we were supposed to be treated to some dynamic cinematics, not some amateur project in Poser...?

After watching the trailers and playing the demo for DA2 i dont see why everyone thinks the games going suck i know its a major change from the first game. I loved the way the first game was but i still like the new game i think they made risky changes but changes that best help the game thats jsut my thoughts anyway.
Don't let the unavoidable negative bias of a forum affect you... or rather, keep it under consideration. People who are dissatisfied are more likely to be vocal than satisfied ones, therefore there tends to be a negative bias.
Instead, look for the more reasonable negative posters and decide for yourself if the nature of their complaints concern you, and keep yourself informed through dev posts and previews and reviews to discern between exegerated/frivolous claims and valid ones (many people will blow issues completely out of proportions, or take them out of context).
Thank you.

DA:O was so slow and they tried to make DA2 better, but clearly is not enough.

I never liked Jade Empire.
Too "engrish" sounding and had those arcade sequances and was like 12 hours long...
But I did like the combat, the combos and harmonic resonances. I thought that worked.

Some people simply don't like the changes that were made.
It's that simple.
Change is coming to the world. There are some who fear change and will fight it with every fibre of their being. But sometimes, change is what they need the most. Sometimes, change is what sets them free.

I actually wished for the 'origins' to be a hallmark of the Dragon Age series. The whole 'choose your own background and adventure' idea was one of the stronger aspects of Origins.
Yeah, even though I am pumped for the game and have no problem with the changes made, I did think that the origins aspect was a cool way to get multiple viewpoints in the same game. Even though the Origin made up a small portion of the game, it felt like a totally different playthrough. On top of that, there were tons of Origins that they didn't use (I'm sure everyone here can think of several that would have interested them).

Each Origin gave you a different insight into the world and changed how your character reacted to it. In DA2 you can be a diplomatic Hawke and sarcastic Hawke, or a tool Hawke, but there is no reason for the choice except you choosing it.

I like the combat animations adds spice to game makes it more visually attractive my problem is the nerfed and killed the control over your party.
Party members ignoring orders/ not taking a health potion when ordered to do a cool combat move and dieing due to doing that move at 10% health.
Strategy goes out the window and you hope for the best if you can't actually control your party cuse to there too busy looking cool.

Nope, sorry, won't do that.
If someone creates a product, and I purchase that product, I have the right to complain about it, and I will do so.
And if that producer has a forum for people to discuss their product, I will post my complaints at that forum.
Until they rename this the "Praise Bioware or go away" forum, discussing things we don't like is fair game.
