Let me give an analogy for the more "casual" part of the bioware community: Lets make a "streamlined" mass effect 3. Imagine, for a moment that the following changes happened in ME3:
Only 3 classes, Soldier, Adept, and Infiltrator. The other three (vanguard, sentinel, engineer) were "streamlined". Furthermore, soldiers could only use Assault rifles and shotguns (no sniper rifles allowed) and there was no way to receive further weapons training.
What? These changes seem completely unnecessary and ridiculous? Hold on to that feeling. That's how much of the DA:O user base feels atm. Look at some of the changes in DA:2: No origins, so only 3 playable characters. Warriors no longer have access to Archery (which with arrow of slaying WAS sniping in DA:O and awakening) or Dual Weapons.
I'm not going to compare/list all of the changes that were made in DA2 that are looked upon unfavorably by some, others have done that before me, and still others will do that after me.
I just imposed the changes made on the available selection of character choices and changes made to a single class onto another game with which the "casual" part of the community is more familliar to make a simple point: change for the sake of change is not a good thing. Especially when marketing people call it "streamlining" (nine times out of ten streamlining == cutting out features and selling the end product for the same price).
