That's most of the forum posts in a nutshell
I don't want want to generalize though, as their are some people here who just don't like some of the changes and voiced them in a civil manner. I don't mind those guys *Daps*.

Everything else sounds, looks, and plays very well. And at the end of the day it's going to have a BioWare story to tell. And those are always the best part of their games.

Well... at least that's what Bioware do the best now days. To tell you their story using their character. All you need to do is just moving around, pick dialogue choices, button mashing for console players when it comes to battle, and lastly enjoy the show. You can play it for 15 minutes or 30 hours straight. It's as easy and immersing as watching a movie or reading story books.

Well I am going to wait to play the game. The demo didn't impress me but it is just a demo.So it really doesn't make sense to judge the game by it.DAO was the best RPG I have played in years.I hope that DA2 isn't way off the mark in the RPG aspect.I wont know till I play it.
I understand what you're saying, and clearly most of us are waiting for the game to make a final decision.
But the point of the demo - any demo - is to give you an idea of what you're getting. So while you're correct that you maybe can't judge the whole game by the demo, you should be able to make a preliminary decision. At least, that's my opinion on it.
I know what your saying about Demos.I just dont want to get locked in on it.When I get my game tomorrow I want to do it with out any preconceived notions on the game.

My oooonly problem is the new Darkspawn art style. Some I think will be cool (Genlock/Shrieks) but I really dislike the Hurlocks and Ogres.
On the plus side though Quanari get a big thumbs up.
Its a minor problem and won't break my enjoyment.

There isn't going to be a Baldur's Gate 3. Bioware actually took a risk with Origins. And people always want more...

A risk that turned into their biggest selling game ever.
Why do you think that happened?
Protip: Because they referred to the game as going back to their old cRPG roots and Baldur's Gate.
Now they are taking a risk by abandoning the primary reason DA:O was so popular.

I don't think that everyone who bought the game liked the combat system. Especially console players(not because their "dumb", but I've heard the game was awful on consoles). And they wouldn't buy an Origins 2.
By the way, I have nothing with Origins combat system. I liked it. But it wasn't the only thing that made this game very fun for me.

DA 2 is gearing towards predefined characters and tighter story. Bioware has decided to take more control from player to better tell the story (or cinematic action game ) which is what some people want.

This. They decided to take a new direction for RPGs. As with time all things change, nothing can stay the same forever. If this new approach does horribly in DA 2 well I would think Bioware will learn from it and see what not to do in their next game. Ideas and creativity can get stagnant and people constantly thirst for something new. I don't agree with all the changes they implemented but I understand why they wanted to try something different.

That's simple. The console verison was a port. DA:O was made originally just for PCs. The console port came after the PC verison was done.
The tables have turned though. DA2 is being developed with consoles in mind. The PC version may not be a port, but it is still limited by the console design limitations and many PC features were an afterthought. The lack of hi-res textures on the disc is a perfect example.

Well, I just wish that they made this game a spin-off. This way it wouldn't be a true sequel and they would try the changes, so they could make the DA2 according to the result. Everyone happy.
I fully agree with you.

I understand some people are upset or unsettled by so many game play changes, but, if you truly loved DA:O you should at least give DA:2 a chance.
My biggest love for Bioware comes from their unrivaled ability to spin a good story. That is my biggest hope and expectation for the game, is a good story.
Oh, my other hope for the game, I hope that its at the very least as long as DA:O. I'm so tired of games that take less than 40 hours to beat and have no re playability. Things like that are not worth the money. I got many many many hours out of DA:O.

Nope. People would still find a reason to nitpick and complain about it. You're kidding yourself if you think Bioware could have done ANYTHING to please everyone.

There are changes in the game I do like. The combat animation in DAO could indeed have used a spice-up, the skill trees are a much better system and the graphics are nicer. But there are also changes that I have very mixed (that is, not entirely negative or positive) feelings about, such as the paraphrased dialogue wheel, the inability to equip companions with armours and the new UI and menus. A few changes, most prominently the removal of the overhead camera with absolutely no attempt to replace it with a decent substitute, were hugely disappointing.
All these changes, along with the fact that the game will be shorter and has no selectable races, all make me feel like I'm getting a spin-off, rather than a proper sequel. Hence my loss of enthusiasm for this game.

I really wish they would have given this game a sub-title instead of number.
