Hey all. I was just wondering why nice lighting effects etc that DX 9 IS CAPABLE OF RENDERING cannot be used in DX9 mode?
I have not got Vista or Win 7, but my current system is running DA2 at 1600X900 res with everything set to as high as it will allow me (medium) and it looks weak. Infact it looks ALOT worse than Mass Effect 2 or the original Dragon Age.
My system is:
Pentium D 3.4 GHz (lol Pentium D)
3GB RAM
512 MB 8800 GT
Windows XP SP 3
It beasts DA 2, as in, I am getting ludirously high FPS, but I would like abit more visual sparkle - I get 40 - 60 FPS at 1600 X 900 with everything turned on in ME2, so why can't I at least have some of the shiny stuff here?
Is this merely a demo limitation? Or is the full game going to look this awful without Windows Vista / Windows 7 as well?
Hi, I have Windows XP and want the game to look nice

You probably will want to experiment with some unofficial systems whereby Windows XP is enabled to run Dx10. Do some Googles for it, there's a lot out there about it now.

Don´t mess around with DX10 for XP without doing a restore point first. It´s damn near impossible to go back otherwise. (If it even works at all, DX10 on XP seems to be a myth)

I held on to XP for quite a while, like many people I skipped Vista. When my PC "died" a few months ago I just went for Windows 7 and it's absolutely worth it. Why bother with trying to make DX10 work on XP (which isn't possible at all AFAIK) when you can just buy a relatively cheap Windows 7 version?
