I think with DA2 it's not necessarily about the graphical quality but also about the artstyle which people are complaining about.

Graphics are low on my list too but it does bug me that DA looks like a last gen game and not even a meh current gen game. I think Bioware's graphics budget must be going to ME.

If the graphics are too poor, then I'll lose my interest. It‘s simple can't help it.

This. Not that I am saying, that DA2 has poor graphics, because it does not. ^_^

But Minecraft is well designed. In a way it does look appealing.

IMO, in RPG, your mind is the graphic engine.
pictures on the screen only help visualizing it. Like arts inside rule book for pen and paper game.

I was impressed by DA2's graphics, they have used the bump mapping well this time and the resolution is rather good too. I don't like the trees I have seen in some videos.

Heres the thing.  I don't care about graphics as long as I can run it smooth on max settings.  30 fps is all I need.  I get 40-50ish on mass effect 2 max, I expect at least the same if not better.

Looks good enough for me. It is the game itself that concerns me the most and I am confident that it will deliver in spades. No worries.

For me, it depends on the game. Shooters I care, but RPGs not so much. Graphics, overall however are not the end all for me it's more about the story in RPGs.

I like good graphics and it isnt high on my list as some of you say. Also I think DA2 graphics look great anyways. I don't really care to see sweat coming down faces and little individual hairs, thats all minor details that graphic lovers love.

I don't mind them and honestly I hope a point is reached where they stop making things look more and more real. Too many damn people have problems seeing reality as it is already. And I played some of the first games and pretty much every game generation. When you've played an Atari or a Sega, well then the stuff running around that many says is bad looks AMAZING. Hell I still have an SNES tucked away and can't bring myself to play it at all. And another thing I find in alot of these newer awesome looking games as some say is you need a Big Screen TV, which puts me off.

Ok so you don't like games having good graphics because you have a small (old school?) TV. I see.

Not at all Mr Troll, I have a 32 inch flat screen HDTV that should be big enough yet I seen plenty of games where  I have to set hell of alot closer, some I have to sit way back, and some thats A-ok. , I don't like ultra realistic graphics as well people are ****ed up enough as is, no need to confuse them more, or one day you'll see some dumb ass just starting at the elevator panel asking "why when I presses A why it not moves!?" Or maybe I don't hold most of mankind in high esteem :-/. Or maybe I see the political controls being moved around gaming, do you really want some dumb ass who plays COD12 to think F YEAH I'm a real soldier now, going out an killing a bunch of people, cause he's too ****ing stupid to tell the game has ended? And thus Ruin gaming for us all, when the polititions react?

Or the fact that ultrareal graphics COST MONEY. Money that brings the game price up, oh sure it looks nice, but i could use the same money for a decent looking game, like most of those out now, to oh I don't know, buy more games? Or maybe its as I play a game for fun, not so I go wow that lake looks so real! If I want to see a damn realistic lake I'll take my ass outside and walk to one.

Always found the higher the graphic standard the more it only takes one bad graphical thing to destroy the entire atmosphere.

I see this question so often it frightens me. Graphics are one element of a game. The better balanced the elements are, the more successful the game. It's just a preference, but visuals matter to many. Some find it irksome to see graphical flaws thrown all about, some can ignore it. But think back to NES days, didn't it annoy you when the cartridge wasn't aligned correctly or it was dirty and you'd get pixel soup? My personal preference says that if a game has graphical flaws, it's distracting, and being an artist I simply can't ignore them. Not to say I'm a graphic ****, I love Chrono Cross and replay it today... along with plenty of older games.

Long answer short, good graphics never hurt in my book. And I like books with pretty covers.

I don't care about graphics like other people do myself, it is not the end all and be all for me. But I do see an advantage to better graphics.

Also my philosophy on graphics is this: As long as things don't look grainy or out of focus, like the first Metal Gear Solid did.

Origins to me looked grainy, so that's why I don't care for the graphics. I also think that caused the older female skin textures to look horrible. Hopefully they look better this time around.
