There's a huge difference between rebuilding a ship, and refitting it.
The Alliance has taken the Normandy SR2 built by Cerberus, upgraded by us, and has refit it themselves.
The SR2 took considerable funds and time for Cerberus to construct.

Unless we're getting a completely different ship that's been built by the Alliance, it's just going to be a refit.

Exactly what the differences are when it comes to offense & defense, we won't know for some time yet.
So far, the only differences we are currently aware of, is a change to the ship's colour scheme.

^that's what i was trying to say, we aren't getting  a "new" normandy so to speak just one that has been "retro-fitted" by the alliance, though there is one thing that i'd like an answer on from someone at bioware :

is EDI is part of the normady or has the alliance removed "her" ?

As the Game Informer said it's basically a way to still have the Normandy from ME2 and not have to blow that up, and at the same time it gives the Normandy some new areas and a new look.

Slightly off-topic, but cheers for posting that article. Interesting to see what's happening in the next one.... I'd have to say it's been a while since I've had so much anticipation for a computer game as I have now. I think Supreme Commander was the last one I was this stoked about... :D

I'm going to do a new Playthrough. Stay faithful to ash, save everyone, Paragon, ready for ME3.

Not a new ship, SR-2 is just getting a new paint job.

And impounded by the Alliance.

I'm glad for it. The luxury liner we have now doesn't really cut the military operation atmosphere.

It says Normandy 3 so there will probably be a new ship.

Probably an upgrade that has all the new tech standard.

I'd rather have a new ship than the same ship from a previous game.

What says it's Normandy 3?

The GI and several other articles says it's Normandy SR-2 with new colors and some few modifications. Which is enough.

Don't need a new ship for every goddamn game.

He's looking at the fake concept art at the beginning of this thread and assuming it's real.

He hasn't read the developer comments in this thread, obviously.

I'm hopeing that someone else before me was smart enough to read the paragraph and realize that this was not ME3 art. It was not even concept art. It's fan concept art for a college course. OP needs to pay attention.

I'll take your word on it that it's fan made.  I haven't read the entire thread, just the OP.

I don't think they are going to make a new ship, but i hope they take time to remake the old one(SR2). Some new design features and new rooms. thats the sort of features the game just needs. Turning back to the old Normandy would be pretty boring, and exploring a new ship is always fun.

Tricia Helfer confirmed that she's in ME3. We don't know how big her role will be, but I assume EDI is still part of the ship.

Here's hoping. The SR2 won't be the same without EDI.
