That is not the dedicated video RAM. What card do you have?

Does DAII need to be installed in a certain folder to get the texture install to work? I didnt install it in the normal path and the pack doesnt seem to recognise that its installed

That shouldn't be necessary. If you have the Steam version of DA2, it probably wont appear as installed until the game is descrypted.

If that isn't the case, you should be able to open the installer as a zip file and extract the two texture files manually.

What I'd like to know is why this isn't stickied or some such. It seems strange to have to find out about this through a random post.

I was rather expecting an announce about it. If it hadn't been for a dev post by Fernando Melo I
wouldn't have even known it existed.

Download GPU-Z

It'll tell you exactly how much VRAM you have.

DxDiag combies your Vram and shared memory.

I was one of the many people who suggested a pack like this in the past. It is great to see that BioWare listened to us and released the high resolution package.

Not really.  My current video card has had 1gig of ram for the last couple years and I believe that the standard video card is in the 768-1024meg range these days with the "budget" cards sporting *only* 512megs.  I believe there's some cards out there with upwards of 3gigs of ram on them.

Yes...SHacknews has a mirror for it...I downloaded it in 8 minutes...roughly 15Mb /s

Yea, what he said. On another note, this could be due in fact that the pack is making the game run more efficiently. *shrugs*

Haha I feel bad for people with cards that don't have 1024MB of memory. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 with 4096 MB of memory

I'm hoping for an early patch with performance improvements along with a driver with some tweaks. But I suspect it might take a while, I'm not sure if DA2 is a release NVidia/AMD cares enough about to optimise for (or to receive early copies of for that purpose).

DX11 actually have some performance improvements over DX9/10 even if you disregard the features that improve image quality. WoW had a patch that enabled DX11 tweaks and netted a 10-30% overall fps increase. If you have a DX11 card and play WoW, you should google it.

The Beta Nvidia driver has som DA2 tweaks in it...
