So console gamers still get the raw end?

Is there gonna be a High Res. patch for the 360? Or will this be an Origins story?

Not trying to start a war or anything...but neither of the consoles are capable of the texture size this download allows...or DX11 hardware to take best advatange of it.

Indeed, from what I've seen on these forums, there are large numbers of PC gamers who not be able to get the best out of this either.

I'm on a i5 2400 , 4gb, 560 ti and in dx11 very high i barely get 15 fps. And yes i've installed the beta drivers 276.26 from nvidia.

This is rather disappointing.

There has been some benchmarks popping up with DA2...there appears to be some funny issues with Nvidia hardware...might have to wait for the full release drivers.

Theres one - Driver Heaven - Note how the GTX 580 crumbles

It's odd.  Kind of like how HAWX2 hates AMD hardware.

Wow, that's just...no comment.

Hope they fix their drivers then cause this is unacceptable.

Wow. I was running ME2 at like 40fps and it looked and played smooth as silk to me. I can't imagine I'd notice a difference at 60fps, let alone 120! Maybe I need to get my eyes checked.

And wait, that picture above is using high-res, not ultra high-res but on DX11?

Ingame u when u choose dx 11 u have high and very high details. There is no ultra high. Once you downloaded and installed the highh resolution texture pack, you will see an extra box checkable. If you check it your game will run with the high res texture + whatver detail setting u have.

So dx 11 very high details with high res texture  is the max setting in game which is the first pic i posted (the one with tess on the ground)

The consoles are capable of more than people assume, dude. Look at the textures for some of the other games out there.

Not trying to argue, but I'm pretty sure an Xbox 360 with high def. coukd possibly support it. Not all pc's are made for gaming, but they can handle the game. An Xbox IS made for gaming. Don't underestimate a console.

anyone with a nvidia 560, 570 ,580 getting low fps problem is definitely a driver problem as your card is more then capable of running this game maxed out. Just wait for nvidia new driver or da 2 patch

Exactly how do you figure consoles could handle the hi-rez texture pack when it requires 1 GB of graphics RAM?

Consoles have 256MB.

When will console gamers ever realize that they are playing on technology from 6 years ago?

No. Consoles lack the actual PHYSICAL hardware to utilise the DX11 and DX10 features which this texture pack requires for best results. This texture pack is designed for high end graphics cards released in the last generation or so.

This isn't under estimating what consoles are capable of.. I love my xbox dearly, but neither it, nor the playstation actually has the hardware to process it.

Edit: You're right, xbox is made for gaming and a lot of PC's are not.. those ones they are not..cannot use this texture pack either.

Yeah, it's just facts about the graphics resolution, not a diss to anyone.

But Im majorly bummed to hear the nvidia cards arent running this too well. I bought a 460 a few months ago because I wanted to prepare for DA2 and thought this would be a solid card to go with. Wrong again!

Consoles have set hardware. therefore its easier to optimize a game for consoles because you know what your dealing with. PCs have a wide range of configurations, so consoles can get away with having less hardware power due to the amount of optimizing they have. Especially console exclusives like Killzone etc.

The high-res textures are to give PC gamers with better hardware the ability to run higher-res textures.

The textures currently in the game? That's the best that the console can handle.

This doesn't make the console crappy. But, as you might expect, you can make a computer more powerful than a game console that was released 5 1/2 years ago.

My SLI GTX 460 (768 MB) setup is having trouble running this high-res pack... Only getting around 25 FPS at highest settings (1920x1080, AO is unchecked, and AA is at 4x). I know the SLI doesn't share video memory, but I expected at least 30 FPS in this setting...hoping for a new driver would fix this!

It looks like NVidia has got serious issues with DA2...you may have to wait for the non beta drivers...

I installed the game through steam (even ran it once to make sure it was fully installed) and ran the HiResTexturePack.exe I got an error stating that Dragon Age II needed to be installed first. Anyone else having this issue?

So I heard that Nvidia cards are getting stomped on?

I just got a Nvidia GTX 570, and I'm wondering if anyone who has this, is having problems?

Yes, nvidia cards are getting stomped on. Not exactly sure how well it should be running compared to the current situation but i imagine a 50%+ increase at least once they solve the issues, be it Bioware or Nvidia drivers or both (even with the beta drivers the performance is appauling).

Worst part is none has made a statement of any kind, and it's an AAA title after all and all the Nvidia users are being affected (dx11).
