Not to criticize for the sake of it, but couldn't a little more info been released about this? A 1gb download, and there's not even a "minimum card requirement" detailed. :/
Also, we're seasoned gamers, and we're confused about this. How on Earth is the average Joe supposed to know whether this runs on his store-bought PC? Given the number of questions about even if the high res pack is DX11 only or not, having BioWare share more info about this would benefit everyone.

So is there any kind of benefit to download this if my vid card is DX10 not 11?
I just found myself confronted with a similar question. My dxdiag says I'm running directx11 but my card is directx10. Can I run the game in directx11 or not?

Using high-resolution textures requires a graphics card with at least 1024MB video memory.
Most of the benefits from the Hi-resolution textures will only be seen if you are able to run the game in DirectX 11.

LOL I was thinking the exact same thing.
Also.. 800x600 screen resolution? Ow... I usually play my games at 1440x900 or 1680x1050 ... The lowest I could stand is 1280x800, anything lower and everything on screen just looks so crowded (not to mention the enormous loss in detail at 800x600).
Some people go over the 1600 resolutions... I for one see very little gain from it and it usually comes at performance costs... I prefer to game at a steady 60 FPS... anything lower than 30 FPS is completely unacceptable, no matter how sharp the detail is... and unless you've got an extremely powerful video card, CPU and a good supply of fast RAM, the resoultions over 1600 tend to cause some serious performance issues.
However, if people have the horsepower to push those resolutions.. more power to 'em I suppose

I believe that answers my question then. You should be able to run the game in DX11.elektrego wrote...

You can run the game in DX11, but it won't use any of the unique features of DX11. It will fall back to DX10.

DX11 is installed, but your card may or may not be capable. Win7 (and Vista?) have the software (API) installed as standard, but whether you can use it is dependant on your card. Google your card's model number and check the specs.
