BioWare...this is just...this is the most thoughtful thing ever.

Serious. This is just awesome for so many reasons!

Expecially for your nice Dell 30'' 2560x1600 monitor, isn't it? ^_^

You know it! ;)

It's always been one of the most annoying things is being able to run insance resolution, but games textures are much smaller. Instead of a game looking better, they sometimes actually end up looking worse because the textures end up all stretched and horrible.

PC's have the ability / power to operate with crazy large textures, it's good to see BioWare taking advantage of this.:D

How terrible would 800x600 look converted onto a 51 inch widescreen?

@aggors

As have been stated earlier in this thread, SLI and Crossfire solution don't add their memory together.
So what you have is a total of 896MB in total to use. If you ain't playing on a high resolution you should have no problems running the game.

You can try. But there is no guarantee of that it will run smoothly.
Your VRAM is apparently lower than the requirement.

Well it appears most high res benefits are for DX11. I'm going to download it anyways and assume there's at least a little benefit from the high res options for vid cards that don't support DX11.

Yes.  Win7 is the only windows OS that supports DX11.  Win7 runs DX11, as does Vista.  Vista has DX10 and XP has DX9.
That is, of course, if you have a DX11 capable video card.

EDIT for info from post below me.
Thanks for the heads up! ^_^

Against windows vista, no none at all.

 @ cgrimm54
Windows Vista can run DX11 without any problems.

btw guys, not just any 1g dx11 card will work according to the games requirements. You still need at least a 5850 or gtx 460 to run all those textures and still look great while retaining good FPS. Now if someone calls BS on this, than I will also call BS needing 1gb of video memory to run high res texture pack as well.

Wrong Vista does support DX11 if you update your Direct X.

To what?, it means you can use directx10/11 enabled graphics cards.

For those interested I've got the textures to work in the demo, the difference to surface textures is quite obvious.

Yes.

You have a DirectX 11 video card and sufficient memory - you should be fine.

Hrm....is it hard to manually do it yourself replace a graphics card for a desktop....I tried to fix my wireless wifi when it broke....i got it to the point where the computer recognizes it but it has a very weak signal.

Hm, I have a question about that 1024 memory requirement.
Does it stand for the overall graphic card memory or the texturing memory? (The latter would be the obvious one, but it never hurts to be sure)
I have a special case with 640 texturing and 1024 backup memory on the card, that's why I'm asking.

For everybody thats wondering if they can run DA2:

1. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com
2. Pick Dragon Age 2 in the drop-down list.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Rejoice or cry over the very clear results.

As a note of interest, the archive the textures come in are 7zip compatible, I was able to extract the exe.

I wonder if BioWare has taken into account the video memory used by Aero. I gain over 100MB by disabling it. I think that will give me some more room to try to make it work with 896MB of VRAM.
