Then there you go.. if it says you are ”ok”, trying to play the game on very high will probably yield poor results.

If I'm lucky, and 1GB is the recommendation when using Aero (and assuming no memory paging funny business when a game is being played), then disabling it should allow me to use the textures with minimal to no issues.

I don't see why it wouldn't. You'd likely just have to direct the patcher to put the files wherever Steam installs the folder for DA2.

For anyone that is going to try the high res textures with less than 1 GB of VRAM (I have 896 MB), disable Aero before starting the game. With Aero on I use about 171 MB of VRAM, that goes down to 45 MB with it disabled. I imagine every little bit will help in this case.

And that's why I hate PC gaming. All these stupid things to change, consider, disable, enable. I love how consoles you just pop it in and play. I just wish they would come out with new next gen consoles already. I hte having to go out and buy a new card for just one game.

It should, though you can't install it until the Steam version is decrypted on release apparently.4bs.zer0 wrote...

Same here. All my stuff checks out. But that thing doesn check for DX11 and the new textures pack. I'd like to see az screen shot of the new textures vs old. Seriously. We're all riding on blind faith here.

It is what it is... PC gaming is about putting in more effort to get a better game experience. If it is not worth it to you then play on consoles, it's up to you.

I find it quite simple; if your machine passes the check with flying colors you should
not have any problems running the game nor the HD pack. Is there something
amiss or your just on the “border” to recommended specs, I doubt very much
trying the game on very high and in your native resolution will yield a smooth
gaming experience.
As with all other games a high resolution + very high graphic settings really sucks out
performance compared to a system running high resolution and medium graphics.

Simple yes or no hopefully. Will I gain ANY benefit from the high res texture pack if I have 512MB and DX 10.1? Or will I hinder myself if I download it?
Installing the pack ADDS an option in the settings menu for higher textures. So it isn't an overwrite.

That tool is very inaccurate especially when it comes to graphics cards. You shouldn't recommend it to anyone.OHM_LO wrote...

You can download it, but you won't be able to use it with only 512MB of VRAM. Save yourself the disk space.

Why not just download it and try it out? Its not like your computer will spontaneously combust
I have no idea what the HD pack contains. If the pack only uses unique DX11 features to render there is no point in downloading it..

True, lol. I just also wanted to know if patching it would have any negative effects?

Sorry if i did miss something but what excatly is yougamers doing better on the graphics front? What i get is still only graphic card name and the amount of memory. It also requires a futuremark application to install vs systemrequirementslab activex object.

It does not only use DX11, I've got the pack working in the demo, it's a definite improvement, on high the demo is using dx10 lighting and shadows, the best place to see the difference is in Kirkwall.OHM_LO wrote...

Then presto! Everybody should download and try it out. Still if your computer only barely
can run the game it will defiantly not help it run any smoother
