No, you have only 512 MB of VRAM.Capt.Dave wrote...

I think they left out the hi-res textures so the game would fit on one DVD. Significant reduction in manufacturing costs.1337gasm wrote...

The Hi-Res is only for PC. There is no reason holding the game up for PC when Xbox and PS3 cannot use it.

I didn't like it at first, but actually it makes perfect sense.
If the rest of the game (sound files, low-res textures, everything) filled 1 DVD, and there was too much empty space in the second DVD, the cost of the second disk for every retail copy was a big waste. (Only 1GB content for a 8GB disk, but same cost for each disk).
This way people won't waste hard disk space if they can't handle the hi-res textures, and those who can handle them can download'em (took me 20 minutes with ****ty DSL).
Really, there are many things you can complain about DA2, but the texture pack is not one of them.

For everybody thats wondering if they can run DA2:
1. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com
2. Pick Dragon Age 2 in the drop-down list.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Rejoice or cry over the very clear results.
Is confused. I have a 9800GT but the results say I have 2.7 GB of video ram.

Are you sure that's not system RAM?Siradix wrote...

Very happy anyways, as someone else pointed out the GTX480 (and a 1080p monitor) was made for these hi-res textures.
Now dear Bioware, can we also get 1080p cinematics pweaze?

Thats windows allocating some RAM into vRAM. Windows Vista and up does this so cheap-o's who bought crap PCs back when Vista came out could run Aero. If your dediated vRAM is enough then Vista/7 wont use your RAM for gpu clocks.

Unless the scan is including the system ram with the video ram in the Video Card section, then no.

Sweet, got it running on the demo. Can't really say anything about the comparison though, don't have my contacts in and not gonna bother to put them in again. Nice blurry screen (gotta love sitting so close just to see what I type).

Pfft. Keep your 1080p..
BioWare can be have 2560x1600 cinematics pweaze? *bats eyelids*
Better yet...can ALL cinematics use in game graphics settings for seamless movies / gameplay.

theres a thread by bioware that da:2 would be 7gig in size. this patch is 1gig.
game + patch would leave 500MB free on the disk. so not that unless there is something else taking up space on the disk.

If you can only play using the DirectX 9 renderer you'll still get a small benefit out of the texture pack. In particular certain character textures will look nicer, but most of the benefits on the environments don't apply to DX9. The reason for this is technical, and it has to do with the maximum texture sizes allowed by the DX9 vs DX11 APIs.
