Try running the launcher and exiting then running the installers again. If this doesn't fix it please let me know and I'll dig deeper at our end.

Owen.

(edit to add and exit launcher)

I tried running with the launcher open and got the error "Please exit Dragon Age and any of it's component and try again."

If i run the installers from inside the Dragon Age 2 game folder, i got "error launching installer" instead.

Using windows 7 64bit.

If it recognizes the launcher open, that's a good sign. try closing the launcher and try the installer again.

The installer doesn't need to be within the DA2 game folder, it should work from anywhere.

How big is your installer? If it's only 1k in size, try redownloading the installer by just clicking on the link instead of right-click save as....

Owen.

I have the same problem as Redsuns_.

I downloaded the game via EA Store. First time i downloaded, I had it installed in the wrong drive, so I uninstalled it - when i did this i noticed it was in my "uninstall programs" list under Control Panel.

After I reinstalled (redownloaded) and subsequently unlocked the game - I noticed its NOT in the "uninstall programs" list under Control Panel. I suspect a bodged installation - so I'm now in the process of downloading again hoping this will help - will let you know if it does

I'm also on win7 64bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem as well.

If I try to run the Black Emporium installer, it says that I don't have DA2 installed.
Trying to run the installer with the DA2 Launcher open gives me the message to exit any DA2 components.

I don't know if this is the problem, but my game is from the EA store in Korea (using the EADM.) I noticed that the game installed into a folder with a Korean name (non-English text.)

Thanks for the tip, Redsuns. I had to do the opposite. I changed my system locale from the US to Korea.

For anyone else who runs into this problem, go to control panel----->clock, language, and region------->region and language. Go to the Administrative tab. Click on the "Change system locale" button, then change the country in the drop down list.

I'm running Windows 7, but I remember there being similar settings in XP.

i got it installed after changing the system locale to english (US) from my Chinese (Singapore)

Is this absolutely necessary for an game played internationally? Bioware should have done testing with users outside US as well...

I cannot install the high res pack or black emporium either. bought it from steam in US, have it preloaded. do i need to wait until it is unlocked or should install be working now?

I'm also having issues with the above. The core game works just fine, but when I try to install DLC or the High Res texture pack, it tells me I need to install Dragon Age 2 first. I bought the game through Steam and my locale is US. Running the installers while the Dragon Age config menu is up just asks me to close those menus before trying.

You've got to run the game and then exit out of it for the necessary registry entries to be made for the installer to know where the game files are located.

I have ran the game, played a little bit and created a save. I still cannot manually install Black Emporium or the high res pack, both say Dragon Age II needs to be installed. What gives?

Getting this also. Uninstalling right now. Seeing if a clean install and reboot does the trick.

I suspect it is because we didn't run EADM as an Administrator, so the installation is somehow incomplete.

Same problem here as well. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall the game and see if that works. Steam version owner here as well.

Sooooo annoying. Dragon age needs to be installed, dragon age needs to close its menus. It is incredible it can tell I have the game installed to tell me to close the menus but can't manage to tell it is installed when it is not running.
