I checked out the specs for the reference card and came up with 896Mb of RAM.

What company made your card? You may have a non-reference board that has increased RAM.

Whilst you have one of the best graphics cards to come out in the past 18 months...

No.

Can someone at BioWare please amend the requirements so that we know what cards can run the high res pack? The card named above is an amazing card, that should be able to run the high res textures, but due to the lack of information, we don't know.

Thank you.

Mine was made by MSI.

But I doubt that this is actually true.

Strange.. my gtx 260 has 2688mb of memory. Check in dxdiag via the display tab.

I'd give it a go anyway. If there isn't a requirement built into the game the worst that could happen is that it'll run slowly or crash.

I'm runnin an old 430 GT with 1024, but I would think the DDR3 would be a bit slower.

As said in other threads, you might be able to get away using the High Res textures anyway. Though there may be some significant slowdown.

I like how my GT220 barley makes the mark for handling the new stuff...*not the very new stuff though*

No Hi-Res, no playtime.

It's how I work. Medium is UNACCEPTABLE.

I don't have an i7 and 6 GB of RAM for nothing!

Cards with less memory will still be able to run the texture pack. There will just be occasional slow downs as textures are swapped in and out of card memory.

Comes down to whether you want graphical loveliness or performance.

Not really sure why, but my 9800 GT reports 2286 total memory in the dxdiag.

Any uber techs want to clear this up as to why it reports so high even though my card as nowhere near that?

Approx. total memory in dxdiag doesn't represent the actualy VRAM. :(

They say on the download page your card needs to have atleast 1024 mb of ram. Texture quality is purely based on how much memory your card has to store the texture files. 1gb is pretty standard among cards today, and 2gb is becoming more common. You can always try with less than 1024 mb of ram on your card, but if it really needs that much space you will get slow down from when the bus has to load textures onto the video card.

It probably includes some shared system memory, and is not all actual VRAM.  That is usually the case when the number is much higher than expected for the card in question.

dxdiag combines your video cards memory with the amount of memory your system has available. It's not a accurate representation of how much RAM your card actually has.

You might be getting a number that's showing ram that's being shared from your motherboard. Your best off checking the information pages in either ATI Catalyst center of Nvidia's software. The ram that's on the card itself is the only ram you should count as any other ram will not be working as fast since it's not on the card directly.

What's even stranger is my NVIDIA Geforce GT220 has an approx memory of 3818mb according to the DirectX diagnostic tool and I already know that I can only play on medium res.

Direct-X doesn't tell you anything.

Look it up on the manufacturer's website.

My 8800GT has 512mb, so no high-res pack for me.
