My videocard has only 896 MB of RAM, as where DxDiag states I have 3684 MB VRAM.

I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to run it though.. was able to run the unofficial high-res pack for DAO quite smoothly.

There is a special feature (in Win7 or in graphic card itself) that allows it to share some of the system memory. The memory indication in dxdiag is actually showing the total including shared system memory. Thus, it's not accurate measure to check VRAM.

my GT220 should have 1024mb
that DxDiag says it has 493mb.....I dont understand...

Yeah, it says approx. Total memory in display tab, in my case for my nvidia geforce gtx 260, its 3688MB. The card only has 896 mb of RAM. You can check my launching DA2, clicking configure (instead of play) and go to the System\\Display section.

I just don't know if I should cancel my pre order or not since if I can't run this game on decent settings that look good prefer high quality settings then I ain't going to be to happy

mine is lower, too  and my VRAM is apparently 1024MB.

There is a number of things that could be affecting this.

Are you sure it's not a 512mb card?
Are you running a 32bit version of Windows..and if yes. How much RAM do you have installed?

I'm sorry .. but I think most of decent looking 3D games coming out these days require pretty high system to run with. It's not just DA2  My pc spec will be dated soon ... as well.

As far as I know it doesn't REQUIRE 1gb, it just suggests you have that much.

Though that's not all the game uses ram for, so putting it to very high with a slow card and 1gb of vram is going to get ****ty performance.

I want to see how good these textures are, they better be higher res than ****ing 256x256 **** like companies do lately.

I am running a 32 bit operating system windows 7 how come it is saying I don't have enough ram to run this game? I am possitive I have 2 2 gig sticks of ram making that a total of 4 gigs :S

32-bit Windows cannot use your full 4 gigabytes.

32 bit operating systems can only adress 4GB of memory, and your other devices will take up some of the space, so there's only 3.2GB worth of adresses left for RAM.
