Why are people so annoyed over a minor thing like this? Dont give me its the principle bs. Does make the game unplayable? No. You guys are getting so worked up over such a small thing.
You guys (myself included) have no idea the pressure and what it takes into making games of this size. True some of you will have a small idea but not the full picture. It just annoys me that you guys would complain about something like this.
There could be a worse issue like the save corruption bug for the PS3 version of ME2. Im just really hacked off at you guys for going all aggro on BW for something like this. You dont know when they got the info the file wasnt included.
I could go on and on but I wont. Ill just stop here before I say something that will get me in trouble.

Wow.. that's a pretty big omission. That was the only thing that bugged me about the demo as it make for some extremely tedious combat.

Edit: To clarify, it didn't bug me enough that it lessens my opinion of the game, or its creators.  I'm still going to play the hell out of the game.

This topic made me lol for the sheer fact people need their characters botted up just to hit now.

Gamer shame has reached a new low.

Sucks for the console users who can't connect online, but I hope they release a patch. I was really hoping the option would be there.

And Emzamination, please re-read John Epler's comment.

Do you not understand why people use auto-attack, or are you intentionally playing dense?

Really?  I want Auto-Attack because I'm going to play as a Sword and Shield Warrior, and I want to focus more on my aggro management than having to hit the A button every few seconds.  In the demo, it was extremely distracting, and I was happy to see that the DEVELOPERS CONFIRMED auto attack was in the game.  And then, a few short hours before the game officially launches, they say the game rejected a bit of code.

I'm still not buying that part, and even if it did, you're telling me they did know about it for the last 24 days?  You're telling me not a single person from EA or BioWare had a finalized copy, and didn't notice Auto Attack not being in the game?  It should have been rectified in a Day 1 patch, but who knows when (or if) we'll see it.  They're probably going to focus on DLC because that makes money immediately, but building up bad will from the people that pay their checks is not a good idea.

I think Gamer shame reached a new low. When the PC version needed a drop down console for codes so users can lift stats and get items ..

Since I am stuck with my 360SE, I'm wondering what difficulty setting would work if I just stand back and manage my 3 party members. (I have hand/wrist problems so can't spam the button). And don't say easy, I love hardcore :) And especially got into solo play on all quests that allowed it, although that will be impossible with DA2 for me, sad panda.

I'm usually a pretty big supporter of all things BioWare (maybe a little less since all this DLC business), but wow.  Someone dropped the ball pretty hard this time around.  My customer loyalty has taken a hit.

Super-lame. I play plenty of action games, so I'll personally get over it, and it won't really affect sales at this stage, but that's just bad customer management. It's a little silly and pretty disingenuous to have release date DLC like Sebastian Vael--which, if you didn't order before January, you have to pay for--if Bioware is letting basic gameplay bugs slip through in the final release.

If you force your customers to commit to you two months in advance to get major content that could have been included on the disc, you really ought to be holding yourselves to an extremely high standard of quality when that release date comes.

Thank you Bioware. Thank you for assuming all gamers with consoles are frothing at the mouth retards who need to buttonmash. /facepalm

Guess my copy is staying in the shrinkwrap until this is resolved.

Yes there are several reasons why players prefer AA than just mashing the button. BW is good at developing games for players that like to think and plan and Gaider a fabulous writer with twists, turns and shockers (and the reason I play BW games). Of all the thousands of posts they responded to regarding AA being in the game, that was great and good PR. However, I think a better choice of making a sticky "Console AA, we goofed" when they found out and a comment in this thread, thank you Chris for letting us know, would have been much wiser.  I hope when they finally respond it isn't with excuses, although I am not sure if they can say anything that will repair the damaged customer trust other than the fix to the consoles for AA will be available tomorrow.

Loved the first Dragon Age, and it is probably my favorite RPG. Played the demo and it felt like God Of War with a story. I would have canceled my preorder then and there if the game was going to be without an autoattack toggle. I bought this game with the understanding that an autoattack toggle would be included on the console version. Some may say the toggle is not important. However, it is the sole reason I was willing to look past the issues (button mashing) I had with the demo version and give Bioware/EA my business in this scenario.

I would sincerely hope that this promised feature is added to the game by way of a patch. If that is not the case I doubt that I personally will be a returning customer for any of any future Bioware products as they have betrayed my trust. Yes, I consider it that big of a deal. While one customer may not have any effect on sales numbers, the fact remains that I feel that I was bold face lied to by this company.

Please make it right, and deliever the product as promised before release Bioware.

Wow Bioware, this ROCKS! I'm so looking forward to awkwardly reaching across the controller with my left thumb to manipulate the RIGHT thumbstick to look around, while I mindlessly mash A like a trained pigeon in a pill factory! I'm sure all your testers felt the same as me!

It makes putting down all that money on a sig. edition pre-order totally worth it. This is gonna be so freaking sweet!

Total garbage. Just hoping enough people complain that a patch gets released. Love(d) Bioware. Hate the fact it was confirmed in, but isn't. Don't like the idea of wearing out my A button which is used for, oh, every action in every other game! Stupid, senseless, and makes me wish I'd found this thread (since it's the only one that actually confirms THE TRUTH that it ISN'T in the game) before I purchased as I would have canceled my preorder and gone back to my KOTOR playthrough. Friggin ridiculous, and shady. For shame!

Well, now I'm glad I won't be able to get my hands on my copy until the 24th (PS3 is at home, I'm at college). No way in hell I was going to play with push to attack on my mage. Hopefully the patch will be out by then or my weekend at home will be ruined.

Weird thing for a first post, but I am really disappointed the game won't be launched with auto attack. I am in a situation where I really don't have much access to the internet on my xbox(gotta love college) so it will likely be a long time before I can patch the game. I get that these screw ups happen, but I hope you guys figure it out soon.

OK: Here is the story.

Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.

Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.

We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.

Well let's hope the first patch fixes this...  Games that have not been completed yet should not be sent out... Is it EA that are rushing you people or am I just hoping that is the problem...

Don't be hard on yourself about seeing this thread earlier so you could have canceled your pre-order. Chris's post was made about 8 hrs before launch, so if you ordered online it was impossible to cancel or change platform. And in person only if the store was still open. So only  option is to return it and go through the hassle of getting your refund in a timely manner.

Given Origin's track record, is anyone actually expecting this to be resolved quickly and effectively? How long did it take Bioware to fix the bugs? How many bugs did they just never fix?
