From what I've been reading there is NO auto-attack option in Console DA2?

There is another RPG coming and this may be why they rushed it out. Its very much like Dragon Age , its DS3

Coincidentaly I was just looking at it on Amazon. Obsidian and SquareEnix , good combo.

I thought it might have been Witcher related.

To one click or not to one click that is the question Posted Image

Good combo?  When has Obsidian ever released a game that was up to snuff?  Every game they've EVER created has been very lacking in a good ending.  They continually release lackluster games without any polish whatsoever.

Obsidian is dead to me after the New Vegas release, and Bioware is becoming just like them.  It appears that neither development house has anyone competant in the QA department.

KOTOR 2 was the best star wars game ever made, it's not Obsidian's fault that Lucas Arts wouldn't let them finish it.

It didn't have any endings... how could it be the best?  And explain Obsidian continually falling on their face with Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas?

New Vegas was received pretty well despite it's bugs, and Alpha Protocol was also not without its merits as far as I've heard. Though if you simply talking about technical issues than fair enough.

On topic... if you don't have an issue with the lack of auto attack can you just go elsewhere. I don't think the majority of us care how much you love repeatedly mashing the A button.

New advertising slogan for DA II...

"The most fun you'll never have with your 'A' button."   :pinched:

I should have bought it for PC...

PC gamers, how do you keep your computers updated hardware-wise on a budget?

So when's the patch coming?
If the files are ready, as we've been told, then it should be just submitted to Microsoft/Sony.
So no more than a week from now, right? RIGHT?!

KOTOR II had endings, but they were considered too dark for certification and got cut. I can respect a company like Obsidian that tries and fails a lot more than one that just settles for "good enough".
Alpha Protocol,FONV were all technically flawed but had some of the best RP elements seen. Alpha Protocol especially, want a game where nearly everything you do matters ? This is the game, despite the other flaws (and there are many).

I hadn't been keeping up with all the news on this game, but after not really liking the new combat system from the demo, I did see on this forum that auto-attack was indeed going to be in the final game. That set my mind at ease, this game feels like it plays more like Fable or a hack n slash than the first Dragon Age.

Except it would make way more sense if it WAS a hack and slash.  Then you could imagine a justification for the change.  But at least in the demo (and I'm not buying the game until the fix this), it's the worst of all worlds.  You have to spam a button a lot, but it doesn't actually really give you control or involve skill.  As far as I could tell, spamming A was bassically "auto-attack without the auto."

Should be no problem for button mashing console kids on sugar high. Remember, kids: every time you press a button, something cool happens.

Quite. At least with other so called "button mashers" you are chaining together attacks to create combo's rather than just mindlessly pressing a single button over and over.

Thanks I will! Autoattack always had a slow reaction speed to the press and attack itself. Taking 2 seconds stading next to the target sucks. Especialy when target moves away from your range.

One of the reasons i loved DA:O was because of the strategic element.
This strategic element for me is simple, because you don't have to mash buttons like there's no tomorrow, with no actual goal other than to perfom basic attacks, you can concentrate on other things.
Things like positioning, what spells to use, where the enemies are, what they are doing, what abilities are on cooldown, how many potions do i have left.
But while i'm doing that, i have to keep pressing a button, because bioware decided this is 'awesome'.

Most of all it's annoying that it was promised to be a toggle but it's not actually in the game at all.
Perhaps it will be in a 'future' patch, but when is this future?
We were already promised the toggle, i'm not holding my breath for a patch to fix this.

Thanks for giving me RSI.

Apparently once you get a few levels higher there is no more button mashing.....due to having lots of skills to use instead of default attack.

My wife, who is a spectacular Bioware fangirl, was extremely angry when she heard about the missing auto-attack problem. Our pre-order was despatched an hour ago. Things will only get worse when it arrives.

Please, Bioware, get this patched ASAP so I can have a happy homelife!

Played the game for a while y-day and yes, the more spells etc. you get the less button mashing but I would still love that patch.

my copy should be at home waiting for me along with the book (that was ordered as I was under the impression DA2 was a LOT bigger than it actually is) so both will be going back un-opened and Ill get my money back for something else.

I may re-buy later when the all in edition comes along and the bugs have been patched. Best be before Skyrim though otherwise its a total loss of me getting the game.

Origins will keep me going a while yet, on my US account for the plati, 1 more to go and that will be both accounts done! Sad but true!!

Hope they do fix it soon but as the Dragons Say, I'm OUT.

Bioware, could you please confirm if a patch is coming ?
I just got the game today and am really enjoying it - except for : x, x, ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x ,x, ..... A few hours into the game it's becoming really tedious, which is a real shame because otherwise the game is fun, but the button mashing partially ruins the game for me.
