From what I've been reading there is NO auto-attack option in Console DA2?

If it really was just an unimplemented file, they should have at least been able to send it off for certification by now.

We've discussed this here, theories abound
Integrity is honoring your word, your advertising, your promises. Owning up you made a mistake. Correct the mistake "no matter the cost". So it is no surprise to me that customers aren't liking the idea of waiting because they want to take advantage of 2 free patches.
Dragon, the only thing posted thus far by BW is that they are working on solutions. Then coding, testing, approval, etc which is much longer than a week in total. No eta. Could take weeks if they are going to bundle all into one patch. The importing issue is still from Origins. Haven't fixed that yet and its been how long? Doubt it is a quick fix. DX and fps and freezing problems, doubt it is a fast fix. Could be other problems also.
From what Chris posted (I think pg 8 this thread) the AA file is done, approved so yes, Vaille, I see no reason why it can't get patched within days or by now actually. Speculation and theories say they knew it didn't make it in the game post master. If it takes roughly a week for MS to re-approve for a patch of a previously approved file. We should have had it the first time we fired up the game.
The big debate here has been whether what Chis was told to post was actually true. If true it would be nice to have that file patched through now. If it waits for the rest it will just appear that it was never done, Chris's post was just to give us a pat on the head with verbal cookies. I think after the backlash they got from the demo they are intending to patch the AA feature, whether they have finished that code, tested and approved it is another matter in question.
The longer they take in responding to customer concerns, the longer these threads get and they get more negative towards the company. Sad because I do love their titles and their work. On a programming standpoint I can't really comment because I don't know what language they are using. I am an old programmer that knows Assembly, Cobal and Pascal blindfolded. A lot of troubleshooting problems is reviewing code testing and change logs to narrow down where in the code could be buggy. Sloppy code flow is harder to find problems and takes a long time.
So, could be a couple weeks to months. They say nothing, we speculate. If you haven't bought the game, wait until the patches come. If you have the game play it differently. I want to play melee hardcore but have to settle for archer and let my party do all the work. Still enjoying the game, just have to adjust class and combat style until the patch.

Thanks for the clarification, I appreciate it.
Glad I could help.
Although I will support BW until we have definitive feedback to issues, I will speculate along with everyone else

I really hope Bioware gets the patch out soon, because I do want to buy their game and support them, but not if the game is unplayable for me (RSI, non gaming related :-). Make it happen Bioware!
Well I rather they take their time with the patch to make sure it does not cause other bugs...

I'm actually stunned they left AA out. Makes the game a bad joke actually. I've been playing Demon's Souls, waiting for DA2 to come out, and to be honest I didn't expect a pathetic button masher like this. I have the Signature edition, bought all DLC for DAO, have max gamerscore on ME1 & 2, I own and have played all Bioware titles, but I have to say this massively shakes my confidence in them.
Hate to say it but Demon's Souls makes this game look exceptionally poor. If you want to make an 'action' game, how about adding some skill to the action elements? Mashing a single button repeatedly doesn't entail that, to me. Not by a long shot.
Please Bioware, sort this out.

So apparently it's just a rendering fault? And is AA in anyway activated through the radial?
Can someone confirm?

I found this information out a couple of days ago just after my SE pre-order was shipped, to say I am not impressed is a huge understatement and had this information been made public even a day before my order would have been cancelled until this problem is rectified.
I held off posting until I had the game and tried it out for myself, it is just as horrible as I feared. I have not been able to complete the first section on some strangely out-of-place land supposedly located near Lothering (is it Mars?), and I doubt I will until you release a patch.
I find the excuses hard to believe, so I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong when the fix arrives within a week.

I think, he means, that you can use the radial menu to point at a target and press the attack button to start the auto attack. I have not tried this out yet.

Official response; is AA actually in the radial menu?!
Wait, those are the only two they things they consider to be "biggies"? What about the quest crushing bugs that prevent quest completion, infinite experience wells or the shield glitch (that ended up making my guy pretty much invunrable and I can't get it back to normal...).

I actually thought all those horrible user scores on Metacritic etc were from PC gamers who were angry about the lack of ISO view... To me, right now, they are more accurate than the critic scores.

This isn't a button masher. It is the same game as DAO in terms of how it plays EXCEPT now to do the same thing you did in DAO you have to hit the "A" button all the time. The problem is they put a button mashing "feature" into a game that isn't a button masher and so it feels wildly out of place.

So... my copy has arrived. Now I need to decide whether playing right now without the AA will hamper my enjoyment too much or not. It would probably be an easier decision if I had any idea how long I'll be waiting for a patch if I do hold off. <_<
While I'm very angry over this whole incident, I have to admit that I'm blown away by the game's climax (especially since I'm a mage). I'd open it up. Though the denouement is pathetic.

Why hasnt bioware responded to this thread if they had already planned for AA.. they could just chime in and say "hey its on its way guys, like next week" but no word.. i think they never planned for it in the final console version because they thought people want to tap buttons for 43 hrs.
