From what I've been reading there is NO auto-attack option in Console DA2?

OK: Here is the story.
Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.
Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.
We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I can imagine the panic around BioWare when you realised what had happened.
While this doesn't affect me, I appreciate how open you're being about it.

I would have appreciated it if they were open about it once they knew it had happened. Holding out that info until less than 12 hours of the game's release....unscrupulous.

Some people can swallow whole bricks. Wow.
I swallowed the inventory lack in ME2, and for me it was harder to swallow. Anyway, I hoe they'll implement it soon.

Not necessarily. The manufacturing error might have happened with no direct involvement from BioWare at all, and they might not have been aware of it until they actually got manufactured copies. The leaked copies may have been from the certification build, which they knew didn't have auto-attack, so that didn't concern them.djackson75 wrote...
So they knew this wasn't going to be in the game for at least a month
And they probably spent a day working on the wording of that little announcement. That's a big one.

Makes you wonder what other little surprises are in store we don't know about. Though I do appreciate they atleast amit the problem and will do something to fix it as opposed to for example some things that never get fixed like Jowans Quest in DA:O (still waiting for them to fix that).
And yes they should admitt it much earlier then a few hours before the game.

Poor show, Bioware. When I spend forty pounds on a game, it should be finished without a hugely important feature missing. I don't want to grind my thumb to dust smacking the "A" button, that's why I don't play hack n' slash games.
I'll still get Dragon Age 2, and I still love you, but... well, I'm a little annoyed at this turnabout.

So you really think that a game that went gold over three weeks ago didn't have a retail copy anywhere in Bioware's offices that somebody cracked open and put in a console?
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you're trying to give an excuse to the unexcuseable.

OP its all a lie like the cake was a lie. Go out and cancel that preorder. Wouldnt wany a whiny lil bleep get some free stuff. Especially one that hasnt gotten their hands on the game yet and is already ****ing.
Oh come on thats to harsh <_< the OP didn't bash Bioware at all, he was just misinformed. To me ****ing is when they ask a question, then rant on how much they hate Bioware and EA.
But this is a fault on Bioware's part, but I'm sure they will fix this issue in their next DA game. It's all experience even though they have been doing it for years, they still have alot to learn, like everybody does

Please get the patch out quickly!
There is no "quickly." Well, maybe for PS3 users, that environment is more open. For 360, nothing happens without MS certification. That is not a quick process.
This is disappointing for everyone all around. Wow.
Since I can't expect a patch soon, this all but confirms I'll play archer or mage. I didn't mind the lack of auto-attack as much with those two.
