From what I've been reading there is NO auto-attack option in Console DA2?

There is! Its called nightmare.
I play on Nightmare, perhaps you misunderstood my post? =P
By "middle ground", I mean between people who enjoy this game with friendly fire and tactics, like myself, and people who simply dismiss it as some button masher. I was using the two trailers as example (*). In Origins, you really kinda just watched, whereas with DA2, they may have made it a bit more... clicky, but at least you're in control.
Sorry if I wasn't clear =)
------
(*) - I figure this part needs more explaination. I was using the joke about the DA2 trailer as an example, actually. Then applying the same logic used there to the original DAO trailer. Oy vay, this is getting off-track.
Ah I see, sorry for the misunderstanding =)

I am not sure how anyone can defend Bioware on this one. They had no problem with getting DLC available on release day but they couldn't fix this....
Taking the time frame Bioware took to release the patch for "Witch Hunt", I hope they can come up with something by the end of the month...
... or at least with an announcement of the work in progress

In lighter news, production on The Hobbit started today.

Implementing autoattack probably requires so much rewriting and recoding the game data that it isn't worth Bioware's time or money to bother.

Can someone explain to me as a PC player what you mean by auto-attack?
Basicaly all "normal" attacks, should be done automaticaly after you target a mob, only special attacks should be activated like e.g. fireball.
This, however, they haven't managed to do for the console version...

Basically, you target an enemy, hit the attack button once, and your character will follow it and keep attacking that target automatically without you having to keep mashing the attack button until that target is dead.
Wow - so the console games must just be a massive button basher?

Yes, exactly. Bioware has been silent on the sugject for 11 or 12 days now, so people have become very frustrated. Myself included.

Just when you think it can't get any worse... There was the odd bug on the PC version where this would happen; I would attack and he would only attack once. It was incredibly annoying. To think that console players have to do that as the norm... (although I guess pressing a button is slightly less tedious than right-clicking on a moving monster)

Actually they did say just a few days ago they are indeed working on patches to fix the auto-attack and other problems for all platforms.BasilKarlo wrote...
