Its the only thing I am waiting for then I might buy the game even if its a failure overall from what I have played on my mate's xbox. Lets hope we dont get screwed and they patch it like promised

It's more than just they promised to patch it. They flat out told us it was in game, then somehow magically was not on the copy that got sent to production.

It goes way beyond Bioware just promising to patch this.

This thread needs to be stickied please.

It was a mistake, pure and simple. What's so hard to understand? No conspiracy to screw over the consumer here.

A mistake with numerous conflicting explanations?

Exactly. I'm not so gullible. I don't think it was simply a mistake.

Such as the following explanations:
1) File was made, sent, but never implemented by the manufacturing company
2) File -was- implemented, but doesn't appear due to a bug
3) The issue is being "investigated" and a patch is being "aggressively" worked on (this conflicts with the 1st explanation, not the 2nd)

Games aren't manufactured a week before release. Game went gold about a month before release.

I wonder what the precedent is for making fraudulent claims about features in the game before it ships?

I can't remember the last time a company misrepresented a game.

I really do hope this is an honest mistake.

Just finished my second playthrough. I would, scratch that, my wrist would greatly appreciate the auto-attack patch good sirs and madams at Bioware! For crying out loud, at least give us an ETA so we don't continue to languish in the dark!

Probably not Bioware holding it up at this point.  Pretty sure every single patch like this has to be signed off on by Sony and Microsoft, and they tend to take their sweet time.  It's why console versions of TF2 don't get the same rapid support the PC version does and Gaben is so excited about Sony letting him put Steamworks on the PS3.

This^^^ it's the same reason that certain DA:O patches and DLC (like RTO) were late for the PS3, because of Sony's certification process.

Microsoft certification couldn't be described as lightning fast it dose proceeded at a reasonable pace. They are almost certainly refusing to issue a small patch for this until they have more problems addressed because they only receive free distribution and testing on a certain number of patches before they start being charged.

I was willing to be understanding about this, but by now it's bull****. Repeatedly promising this basic usability feature after the demo and in the interviews leading up to the release then failing to patch it in two weeks is insulting.

It's been two weeks now, BioWare.
Are you still "pursuing the matter aggressively"?
Maybe you could show us a video of the console gameplay with auto-attack, so people stop accusing you of outright lying to them?
