That what I've said is possibly true?  Absolutely.  Almost everything is possibly true.

I have no idea what these brick remarks mean.

OK: Here is the story.

Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.

Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.

We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.

Someone really needs to follow up on this as ask them how long they've known this issue exists.. I would LOVE to hear the answer to that.

Yeah I mean, the only reason hitting the A button diddnt bother me in the demo is because I knew I wouldnt have to in the full game. Now come to find out, I have no choice. I hope everyone at Bioware is working frantically to get this sorted out, because it is a big deal.

Yeah, I hope they realize this. This isn't some minor side-quest glitch, this affects the ENTIRE game.

^^^ this, I tolerated the button mashing in the demo thinking I wouldn't have to worry about it in the full game.....this is unfortunate to say the least.

So they knew this wasn't going to be in the game for at least a month

Not necessarily.  The manufacturing error might have happened with no direct involvement from BioWare at all, and they might not have been aware of it until they actually got manufactured copies.  The leaked copies may have been from the certification build, which they knew didn't have auto-attack, so that didn't concern them.

And they probably spent a day working on the wording of that little announcement.  That's a big one.

So you really think that a game that went gold over three weeks ago didn't have a retail copy anywhere in Bioware's offices that somebody cracked open and put in a console?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you're trying to give an excuse to the unexcuseable.

Some people will believe anything, lol.

Yeah, open about it when we're 7 hours away from launch, when the game went Gold 24 days ago.

Yea, because changes like that are instant and known immediately...

I figured it wasn't in the full game. Never seen it in any stream but everyone was convinced it was just "the pirate version" as if it would be any different from the retail copy.

This is a game breaker, adding that with limited companion outfits, DA 2 is starting to sour on me. And I pre-ordered the signature edition to find out all of these cuts at the last second?

DAMN, that's unfortunate! The button tapping is just annoying to me as it distracts me from my tactics. It's just stupid as tapping does nothing but prevent your character from not attacking, who does the same animations over and over, there's simply no satisfaction in it.

Given how incredibly slow they were to respond with patches for the original Dragon Age, I'd expect at least three different DLC episodes to be released before they get around to patching this. Oh sure, they'll patch the game (to prepare for the DLC releases) but it won't fix this issue (or any of the others we'll inevitably find). I think once a game is released for them, they split everyone up onto DLC except for possibly one guy to fix any problems. At least, that's what it felt like when I was waiting for 6+ months for DA:Origins issues to be patched.

I don't play on console but can you still pull up the radial menu and issue orders ? is that a way to auto attack?

When they were locking thread about it people should have known that something was wrong. There's no detachable camera for spell casting in PC version like Bioware would have us believe as well. *shrug* I leave it to the modders to fix the game...again...like all Bioware games

Question... Auto Attack.. Does this include fact party members "auto attack while your fighting" or just main character ato attack isnt working when selected as under user control. I ask because my consumer confidence with Bioware has just dropped. I can now imagine I go to play and find out while I'm using one member of the party the others are standing around doing nothing not auto attacking. Though I exagerrate a bit I think one problem tends to hide many others.

I don't see how that would be applicable here, though, as the possibiliy I outlined isn't something BioWare has claimed (as far as I know).

Does it matter?  At this point you can't change the timing of the announcement.
