I'll tell you what happened. They didnt include the file in the original master because it wasnt complete or bugged. Then they fixed it, community told us it was available, but then TPTB wouldnt pay the 25k for a re-cert. So it shipped as is.

LOL DUDEZZ SOMETHING WRONG WITH MASTER DISKKKKK

But "da man" Mike said it was on the shipped game disk. The icon to turn it on, which is on the wheel is invisible so we can't see it. But it is there. Because Mike said so.

As a console player...for me this is a non-issue. Is it really that hard to press the button?

Apparently it degrades you to a "button smasher." From what I hear.

But on a serious note, some people really like this feature and it was told to us that this was DEFINITELY in the console version of the game, which it isn't. So the frustration by some is definitely understandable.

It maybe a non issue for you but you dont button mash that much even in fighter games. they could have had auto attack like they promised.. or had attack continual when the button is pressed down.

At the lower diffculity levels it's just annoying. At the higher levels, the need to press a button 2-3 times a second in combat is an annoying and pointless distraction. It dosn't even make sense, as there is no tactical prupose to this. When attacking with basic attacks all you want is to launch attacks at the best possble rate. It's not as if you charge up for power attacks or need to block, the only thing you do is press attack three times a second until you find a point to use a power.

This, also maybe its just me but when i dont play as the rogue i dont think they attack as fast as when you control them and mash the a button.. its so flawed here.. PUT IN AUTO ATTACK, and MAKE THIS A STICKY.

I am glad that voices like yours are vastly outnumbered by what I consider to be much more thoughtful opinions.

Having auto attack does not take away from your ability to Press A as many times as you like.
Even if there was just continual input (ie holding down A instead of pressing it over and over) the game would be better .. and it wouldn't take away from your ability to press A as much as you like.

It is hard for me to accept that an opinion like your is genuine. I have a feeling that you are being contrary just for the sake of being contrary.

Regardless of whether it's easy or not to push x or a repeatedly, the developers announced that the game would have auto-attack. Just because it's easy for you to press buttons repeatedly doesn't mean it is for everyone else. Them waiting until the 1 day to announce in a thread they didn't even sticky that there is no auto attack was very disrespectful. I'm sure most people didn't even know there was no auto attack until they played the game.

What you have to really wonder is why so many people at Bioware could be so immoral. I guess greed trumps morals and ethics.

This entire issue has made me very disillusioned with BioWare.

Well this thread has over 20,000 views and is 40 pages deep. Really needs to stay page 1.

It's fine if you just want to kill the monster standing in front of you then move on to the next monster etc etc. But if you like playing tactically, commanding your team and so forth it's almost impossible to do so because you're constantly tapping the attack button and can't properly manage 4 characters' health, stamina/mana and their strategies.

One would think EA might learn from their past mistakes. It's just as bad as it was 6 years ago when I was playing Ultima Online.

Hopefully you guys will get the auto-attack soon enough.

This is one of the most viewed threads on the board (there are several with higher viewcounts, but this one is up there). A moderator's rise to power could be measured by their willingness to sticky this thread(or they might get in trouble).

Anyway please sticky this. Also the obvious lack of developer comments in this thread is really telling.

I'd rather have an honest answer informing me that the feature I want won't be in game than a downright lie.

BioWare: If you aren't going to patch this up, let me know now so that I can get the most money possible from my trade-in.

Well um ... uh ... hmmm?

Bioware's first response to this question was to tell us it was in the game.

Then like 2 days before release there was a LP livestream thingy with chat and Q&A and stuff. People asked directly about auto-attack in the retail version. Bioware ignored the questions.

Then 1 day before release bioware informs us that auto-attack actually is NOT in the game.

Escapist Magazine talked about auto-attack being present in the reatil release of the console edition. Weird huh? Then mysteriously they stealth-edited their article to try and make themselves look less like the shills they really are.

So your assessment is off the mark by quite a ways.
